Letters Got letters, but no notice: Dear Carolyn: The Boulder City Arts Guild holds the Clark County Art Show every year. I participated in it last year for the first time and was really surprised that more artists from Vegas were not in it. It was very profitable for me and I made a lot of sales and connections there. I noticed that it wasn't mentioned in the newsletter either and wondered if that is why no one from Vegas participates? I believe it's the 28th and 29th of April this year and I know there are still booths available. Contact Darrell McGarvey at DarrellMcg@aol.com In fact, I will send him a copy of this letter, too. Thanks! Karin Dear Karin: You are correct on the dates and the fact that few from Las Vegas participate. Vegans are still the majority however. We have room for 100 booths and to date we have 50 artists! With sharing of space only 37 booth spaces are assigned. We spend upwards to $1,000 each year on ads in the RJ and Sun and some Views plus print 3,000 brochure - applications, mail out 850 and the rest are placed at Dick Blick(s), Desert Art Supply(s) and Aaron Brothers stores (as well as our Gallery) all inviting artists to participate. We have NEVER filled the park! That is why we are considering opening the show to artists in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, So. California and all of Nevada instead of So. Nevada only. If this occurs we may very well hear complaints that local artists can no longer get into the show because its sold out! We have a reservation program which guarantees the same booth space from year to year. If local artists want in the show, they had better get in early because the "outsiders" will soon take the empty booth spaces over! It would make me extremely happy one year to get back 100 reservation forms from 100 exhibitors that year. We can do that if we fill the park! Please note new email address...or use my domain address: darrell@dmcgarvey.com Thanks, Darrell |
