57'10 Lecture Series Description

57°10 is an architecture society at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and the Built Environment in Aberdeen, Scotland. The society, 57°10, has been running for 29 years and invites guest lecturers to the school to talk about the ideas and projects explored by their practices. Some of the previous guests include renowned architects such as Andreas Deplazes, Snøhetta and Zaha Hadid. The society prides itself in being student led; providing lectures that will in turn inspire our future architects, perhaps on topics out-with the discourse of the school.

The work ...of the practice has been acknowledged internationally through numerous awards and accolades. Their Newport Street Gallery won numerous awards in 2016, including the RIBA Stirling Prize. The project was also nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2017.
Peter St John began his architectural studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, completing them at the Architectural Association in 1984. He worked for Richard Rogers, Florian Beigel, Dixon Jones, and Arup Associates prior to establishing his own practice with Adam Caruso.
Throughout his time in practice, Peter has also taught at a number of leading European universities. He was a Visiting Professor ETH in Zurich, the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and is currently a professor of Architecture at London Metropolitan University.
