Hello everyone and welcome to Alfie's Little Treasures. Time for an update and freshen up of our page so firstly to introduce myself, my name is Zoe � I first became interested in crochet back at the end of 2012 following the loss of our first born son Alfie who was stillborn in October 2012. A charity called SANDS supply all bereaved parents with memory boxes to hold those special items such as handprints, locks of hair and blankets kindly donated by knitters and crocheters. So this is where I began, firstly learning to knit so I could contribute blankets to other grieving parents through SANDS, unfortunately knitting was not my calling and that's when I discovered crochet � I'm self taught through YouTube and learning basic crochet patterns through the Internet and that's where Alfie's Little Treasures was born. I began making many things from hats to blankets to toys and even items of clothing for animals. I started taking orders and made my mind up that 20% of all my sales would go to charities helping tackle baby loss and those it has affected so around Alfie's birthday each year I split the money between 4 chosen charities (SANDS, Kicks Count, Mylo's Fund and The Rubislaw Ward located at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital where we had Alfie) as my way of giving back. To the present day I no longer take orders as time can be an issue with our daughter now around but from next weekend (6th May 2017) we will be supplying crochet items to a local gift shop opening up � and I have recruited another team member in my mum Tina who is also self taught. Travelling crochet today 😁 we are off to Inverness and recently found out I can crochet while Ben drives and I don't feel travel sick looking down 🎉 not in the car though that's a whole other story 😂
A few more macrame feathers 😁 later on I'm going to see if I can set them so they don't bunch up on your keys, bags etc..

I've also been doing a touch of macrame and am making feathers 😁
Have almost completed this shawl it's now needs blocked then the finishing touches can't wait to share with you all the finished result 😁

So here's a wee beastie we've (mostly mum I only managed 2 balloons 🙈) been working on with the hope to make more to sell so I'm here for your ideas 😁 what theme would you like to see the most? Any little characters you would love to see in one of these frames? All ideas welcome 😘
It's quiet here at ALT headquarters. Last weekend I turned the big 30 and it didn't hurt at all 😉 still as tired as I was at 23-29 🤣 here's a few bits that were worked up as Xmas presents, mine and mum's Havanas so far, colour plans for a willow square blanket, yarn orders, my birthday present of a scheepjes whirl 😍 and my temp blanket so far. Me and mum have just finished a new piece will post pictures once the girls and bathed and bedded so stay tuned 😘
Oh and I finished myself a cardigan 😁 super cosy, chunky and colourful 😁 pattern was found on Pinterest called the "Marley cardi" and it's a great free pattern. Going to adapt it to make cardigans for the girls this year 😊
Happy New year to you all I hope you all had a great Christmas and New year celebrations 😁 over the holidays I've been planning my makes for the new year and planning my colours and pattern for this year's temperature blanket. There's been a few changes but think we are on the right track now 😁 i had planned to make my temp blanket using a pattern called the "havana" but after making a swatch in the Havana pattern it became clear that due to constant colour changes the patter...n would most likely disappear in the colours so I've decided to do my temp blanket using @thepatchworkheart corner to corner join as you go method and I've estimated it will be around 48x48cm working 19x19 squares it leaves 4 days left which I will use to work up the border 😁 still working a Havana in the same colour way but I've paired the colours up for each pattern (there are 7 different patterns) and the first pattern is using lipstick and citron 😁
