Could you help someone with dementia if they go missing? Purple Alert is a community minded app that's helping people look out for their neighbours.

Our very own Head of Health and Safety, Mike, who is based at our centre, has been taking on a momentous challenge throughout 2018 to fundraise for Alzheimer Scotland. Mike challenged himself to run 12 marathons in 12 months and his final marathon will be taking place on Sunday! You can follow Mike’s journey on his facebook page below where you can support his fundraising efforts.

We believe in the power of togetherness and local communities like Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in making a difference to people living with dementia.
That’s why our teams work within close-knit communities across Scotland, providing information, support and activities. Your generous donations make sure we can continue our work: alzscot.org/supportaberdeen

Our Musical Memories group in Aberdeen welcomed some special guests for Christmas carols at our Resource Centre last Friday. These girls from Quarryhill School also treated the group to a song of their own which received a hearty round of applause. Merry Christmas to them all!

There have been lots of Xmas Boogies over the last couple of weeks. Well done to Friends of Insch Hospital and Community SCIO , the Gordon Arms Hotel (Huntly)and Grampian Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Service for very successful first boogies! The Drouthy Laird (Inverurie) also hosted a lovely Xmas boogie yesterday. This afternoon it's the turn of the Foundry Aberdeen! Everyone welcome to come along for a dance from 12pm to 4pm - all the fun without the late night! For dates of upcoming events in your area you can visit www.boogieinthebar.co.uk

Healthcare Improvement Scotland are currently developing new general standards for Neurological conditions. They are seeking the views of people who use neurological services and the Scottish Health Council is supporting this work.
There are many different neurological conditions that affect people in different ways and it is important that they consider a range of different views to ensure that the standards meet the needs of people who use these services.
If you would like ...to have a say on the development of these standards then you can do this in a number of ways.
You can take part in a telephone interview, contact the Grampian office of the Scottish Health Council on 01224 553753 or by email: christopher.third@scottishhealthcoun cil.org to arrange this.
You can also visit this webpage to read the draft standards and complete an online survey:

It was almost standing room only at our Resource Centre today thanks to a wonderful afternoon of entertainment from Sandy Davidson! Well done to our volunteer Kath too who also gave a great performance. Many thanks to Sandy and to everyone who came to our Xmas party today, our brilliant volunteers (including Linda and Diane for their fab help with the raffle), everyone who donated raffle items and to Asda (Aberdeen beach) for the mince pies. It was lovely to see everyone!
