... About AAOCA:- We are a peer support group for parents and carers who have children with additional needs. We meet once a fortnight on Mondays at Rosemount Community Centre, from 10:00 to 12:00 during term time. During the holidays we meet up to allow our kids a chance to socialise and play together in a relaxed atmosphere. We aim to offer support and a safe environment where families of children with additional needs can meet to share experiences and information.

We are delighted to welcome Annette Masson & Edward Fowler from ASK North East; they will be attending on Monday to talk about their charity:- Autism Specific Knowledge. ASK North East provides advocacy, information and support on education, housing, employment and social services.

Sleep Scotland have recently rolled out a free Support Line to provide immediate help for parents and guardians struggling with their children’s and teenagers’ sleep problems. Parents can seek tailored sleep advice for children between 18 months and 18 years.
This charity has noticed an increasing need for family sleep support. Research indicates that 83% of parents have had sleep issues with at least one child. Sleep deficits in children and young people have been linked t...o impaired learning, obesity, a lowered immune system, and depression. For many families, simple interventions and basic sleep education can help them to sleep better and avoid the harmful effects of sleep deprivation.
For parents and carers in Aberdeenshire looking for guidance, Sleep Scotland would like to encourage them to call their Support Line on 0800 138 6565 Monday to Thursday, between 10am and 4pm.
