Lesson learned yesterday. Filming 5 properties for DWG Films - the last 2 were very tight to trees and overhead cables. Decided the big-stuff was too big for the space, so opted for the P4P. Everything went well until the last shot on fourth job when despite observer's yell, I backed into a tree. Luckily the only damage was a broken prop, but it took an hour today to clean off the liquidised leaf juice. On the last job used the DJI Spark, which proved great with the all-round obstacle detection - quicker warning than the observer !😬😡

Working for a film company in Bath yesterday we were given a window of 07:00 to 09:00 to complete. Last shots were at the Royal Crescent. Landed at 08:51 and looked round to see a horde of Japanese tourists charging up the slope from the road, cameras at the high port. Totally ignored our barrier, coned area and two observer/marshalls. Any later and would have had to use the emergency landing area on the opposite side of the road. Stills taken from the vid.

4 hours filming yesterday. Loaded 20GB onto external hard drive. Came to view it later and the drive would not mount 😳 Had to get onto WD site and it seems this sometimes happens with their drives. Resolution is to plug it in and leave it, and the Mac will sort it for you. It worked - after about 6 minutes the disk appeared again - thanks Apple for saving the day 👍😀

Just a couple of 720p clips from 4K video of Bath Racecourse, Lansdown Road

Good weather over the weekend allowed filming towards client video. Also had time to play - messing about with expro and rates on the ST16. Shot this small clip while testing after changes. Reduced from 4k to 720p to allow quicker upload.

Great day yesterday. Client requires a promotional video and good weather allowed time for recce aerial video to plan the shots. Down side was that the pickup got stuck in the mud after all the rain we have had. No problem to pull it out as luckily we had another 4x4 and a long rope. However stood on a piece of very slippy wood, fell over and broke 3rd finger on right hand. Photography can be dangerous! All worth it as the video footage is excellent so can sit with the client and work out the storyboard.

Plenty of planning going on - in addition to Castle Combe Race Circuit, have to do a recce for filming an advert in commercial premises, plus making a video of how tha advert was made ! Just hoping the weather bucks up soon so we can actually get the filming done. Rain and cold may be suitable for wild-life filming, but doesn’t work well for promotional videos !

Got permission from Castle Combe Race Circuit to go and do a recce and get some shots to plan for filming Empire RV video. All we need now is for St Swithens to stand aside and let us have a decent day and a few hours without rain !
