Citymoves Dance Agency Description
DanceLive is one of the many events and activities that Citymoves Dance Agency delivers throughout the year, but one where performance and participation are celebrated equally. The Citymoves team alongside the organisations we’re working with have put this festival together – it’s a collaborative effort spread across the whole city and this year our invitation to you is: dig a little deeper.
If you want to see the heavyweights, there’s work by Company Wayne McGregor and Scottish Ballet. Sitting happily alongside them are a number of events that question the idea of authorship and give you the chance to influence the outcome.
Scotland is helping to shape a number of
distinctive choreographic voices and we’re
delighted to present a flock of the finest. With interactive work for children, cinematic and conversational feasts alongside performances in unusual spaces, come and take shelter under the canopy of DanceLive and see the world a little differently.

#ProjectStrive Teacher Training yesterday. We are very excited for this coming term, with new classes and a brilliant team to deliver them. We have our focus on the outcomes this year and yesterday took part in some skill sharing from the group for new and exciting ideas to ensure we get as many outcomes as possible. Professional Sharing: 5pm Thursday 30th August Professional Class: 1200-1330 Friday 31st August FREE

This residency begins R&D for a new solo work to be performed by dance artist/ choreographer Skye Reynolds (PITCH) created in collaboration with and directed by Susan Worsfold (The Gospel According to Jesus Queen of Heaven, Eve, Heroine). This solo will take the form of a narrative of linked improvisations exploring either a question, an exercise or a proposition using body and voice. We are curious about how to create a physical work whose form is both spontaneous and scored. How to create space for both audience and artist to experience the aliveness of fresh content, creating frame and performance structure that allows questions to arise, deepen and change with every performance. Our research will include themes around 'Being Here Now'; female-mother-artist; and becoming ‘more of’ not ‘more than’ who you are

Job Role: To ensure the smooth-running of the festival programme and the most positive experience for public and artists alike. To put in place robust mechanisms for evaluation of artists, audiences and cultural impact of the festival, with regard to core funders requirements. To set up and oversee ticket sales structures for the festival.

Citymoves recently worked in partnership with Look Again: Visual Art and Design Festival to realise Facades/Fronts.
‘Facades/Fronts’ by Emily Speed was a joint commission between Look Again Visual Art & Design Festival and Citymoves Dance Agency. Speed worked with choreographer Jack Webb and 13 dancers from the north east, to produce a film and promenade performance exploring the relationship between emerging female identities and civic architecture. This work was also part of the Architecture Biennale for Scotland +Venice.
