CLAN Haven is CLAN Cancer Support’s purpose-build bed and breakfast facility in Aberdeen. Linked to CLAN House, the 27 bedroom facility is a “home from home” for individuals, and their families, who are faced with travelling to Aberdeen for treatment.
Gladys lives in Kirkwall, Orkney, and came to CLAN Haven for six weeks during her treatment. Despite being unsure when she arrived, Gladys soon benefited from the support and friendship which comes with staying at CLAN Haven.
Du...ring 2018, CLAN Haven provided 8,444 bed nights for individuals, their carers and families. You can support CLAN’s work across north-east Scotland, Orkney and Shetland by texting ‘CLAN18 £5’ to 70070 to donate £5 to CLAN.
Thanks to Gladys for sharing her experience of CLAN Haven with us and to Hydrasun for supporting #ThinkCancerThinkCLAN.

Are you hooked by Marie Kando’s Netflix series which shows you how to declutter your home?
Her programme, which encourages people to declutter their personal spaces to clear their mind and their home by discarding items which no longer ‘spark joy’, is also having a positive impact on the charity retail sector.
CLAN Cancer Support is encouraging anyone following Marie’s philosophy in the New Year to ‘support local’ by considering donating their decluttering to one of the char...ity’s shops.
“Marie’s advice on how to declutter your mind as well as creating a cleaner home has really captured people’s minds. As part of decluttering, we would like people to consider how to give their once treasured possessions a second lease of life by donating them to local charity.” said CLAN Cancer Support’s Fiona Fernie.
CLAN’s has shops in Aberdeen’s Rosemount, Ballater, Kirkwall and Lerwick which are waiting to receive your decluttering donations! For further information about the shops and CLAN’s work, please visit http://ow.ly/xP2P30nrL6y or call 01224 622894.

Your unwanted gifts could help to support someone affected by cancer in your local community! Christmas seems like a distant memory now, but you might still be struggling to find a home for some of the gifts you received. CLAN are looking for unwanted gifts such as bath sets, candles, fashion accessories, bottles of wine, prosecco, gin, etc. to help stock our raffles and tombolas throughout the year. These fundraising activities mean your donation turns into vital funds for CLAN. If you have any items you would like to donate, please drop them into CLAN House or any CLAN Centre.

Following her cancer diagnosis Gladys was supported by CLAN Cancer Support in both Orkney and Aberdeen.
Gladys was faced with having to travel to Aberdeen for specialist treatment, and stayed in CLAN's facility in Aberdeen - CLAN Haven - for six weeks during her treatment.
CLAN Haven is CLAN's purpose-designed bed and breakfast facility which provides 'home from home' accommodation for people, and their families, while they receive treatment at hospital in Aberdeen. Gladys kindly shared with us how CLAN's support and services during this difficult time in her life changed her life for ever.

User

Wonderful place. I love it. They gave us so much support when times were tough. I felt like I was being wrapped up in a warm cosy blanket every time I visited. The staff are so fantastic.

User

Went down to CLAN this afternoon to collect leighann's t-shirt.

From the moment we walked through the door, we were treated with such a heartwarming welcome.

Bob behind the desk in the welcome area, gave us a good laugh, and gave us all a drink and sweets, (and biscuits).

Fiona and moureen, both greeted us with the same heartfelt hello.

Moureen kindly showed us around CLAN house, telling us about how rooms are for families can stay while loved ones are getting treatment.

The feeling within the house was amazing. It did feel like home.

I am so proud of my amazing, beautiful, thoughtful daughter donating her hair and raising money for such an awesome charity
