Thank you to everyone who entered our 'Name a duckling competition'. We originally had seven in total to name but a good friend of Doonies farm, who has kept ducks for many years, asked if they could purchase three of our new arrivals for breeding. So therefore, the four we have left have been named. Congratulations to:

visited the farm on Friday and we all absolutely loved it. didnt know what to expect but it was just great the kids had the best time and loved every minute especially being able to feed all the animals. we also bought some of the meat that was for sale and the stuff wr have tried so far is delicious just wish we had bought more. we will definitely be making another trip before end of the summer holidays. xx
We visited Doonies with our 1 year old on Wednesday and had a brilliant time! She loved interacting with the animals and the staff were very friendly, welcoming and informative. We took home some farm-grown beef and pork and it was fantastic! It is a wonderful place to teach youngsters where their food comes from in such a great environment where staff clearly care for their animals.
We had an amazing 1st Birthday party for our Baby yesterday at the farm. Everyone was so helpful, they even had the mascot out for the kids . A big thanks to the team in Doonies , you are doing a brilliant job
We had a wonderful visit here today for my little girls 3rd birthday. She couldn’t wait to see the lambs. Thank you for making it so special for us.
Today getting to cuddle Daisy was fab! Kids loved her, I loved her and we love visiting the farm. Keep up the fab work Xx
Such a great place to visit, our son loved the play area as much as the friendly animals!
Our second visit to Doonies and loved it even more than first. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. And the animals are a delight.
I love that Doonies is a working farm as it becomes an educational experience for my children as they’re having fun. I was advised that they are upgrading their outdoor play area soon too which means my visits will be be longer as my children get more out of the experience with each visit.
Yes it can be bracing with the Farm on an exposed bit of land on the cost but we wrapped up and had a fab morning. The lambs and kids were super cute! Getting to feed the animals was more fun for me than my toddler so something for everyone. The facts beside each enclosure are eye opening about the work Doonies do.
I’m delighted Doonies is so close and I already have our next visit planned. Thanks to everyone at Doonies for all their hard work.
Myself and my partner visited doonies farm a few weeks ago and we had a fantastic time.
The facilities were excellent and the staff were very approachable and welcoming. A fun filled place to visit for a day trip, we will definitely be back and would highly recommend for any young families.
Lovely farm to visit with children and families. We went on a school trip here and the staff were amazing with the pupils. Super facilities, plenty to do and the staff are very informative. Would highly recommend. Well done to the staff who work hard and keep the farm running.
Loved our wee visit today and Lilly getting to cuddle Daisy was brilliant.
We went round the farm too and fed the animals that were willing to brave the cold! Definitely a great experience for all ages and will be back - when the sun returns to Aberdeen!
Really friendly staff as well. Thank you for such a pleasant experience on such a rainy day. Xx
Just love Doonies . It is so great to see all the lovely animals . The staff are fantastic . They take time to chat with you and farmer Graham ( hope that's the right spelling) is just lovely . Love all the different kinds of sheep . I realise that it's a tough life being a farmer and out in all kinds of weather . Can I say a huge thankyou to all the Doonies staff for keeping such a brilliant asset so close to home . They are always so friendly and welcoming and go that extra bit to make your visit interesting .
Just had the longhorn burger for tea and it was hands down the best burger I’ve ever eaten!! Will be coming back for more for sure!!
Had our first visit here today and had a wonderful time. My Grandson enjoyed meeting all the animals and as today was sheep sheering day we had an added bonus. Highly recommend the farm and will certainly be visiting again. Thank you to the kind staff for making it a very pleasurable experience.
First time taking our 2 year old son, and he Loved seeing all the different animals, great place to take kids! Would definitely go back.
Fantastic place to visit, beautiful and friendly animals who are always happy to munch on a carrot or two. Staff are extremely lovely and helpful, very knowledgeable about not only about farming and their animals but also the local area. Always a pleasure to visit and looking forward to seeing the new additions both animals and facilities.
Fantastic place for all ages. The animals r so gentle and lovely. Accessibility is really good. Would go everyday if I lived closer
Fantastic day out...lovely friendly animals to feed.
Welcoming staff....(debbie)!
Kids loved the day and the play area is fantastic too!
Would go back more often!
Doonies is a priceless multi-faceted local "institution";
On one hand it is one of the few outdoor family entertainment and educational venues in the area. It is a place for wellies, sun or rain, puddles, farm animals and their babies, but most of all a place for kids. It's where the enthuisiastic staff inform visitors in such a fun way and you always leave having learned something new.
On the other hand Doonies is one of only two Farm Parks in Scotland approved by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (the other is outside Glasgow). It performs a vital role in keeping these rare breeds of British livestock from becoming extinct. Some of the breeds kept there are incredibly rare; esp the Eriskay pony, the Large Black pigs and the White Park cattle. Part of the reason these animals are so rare is that, like the Giant Panda who is actually "less rare" than they are, they can be very difficult to breed. Another reason for their rarity is that they are less productive compared to "improved breeds" and so less profitable for farmers to keep.
We are so fortunate that Doonies has managed to doggedly cling like a limpet to the cliff-tops against the tide of financial and beaurocratic pressures it faces.
It is a real family fun day out and is truly worthy of your support.
Brilliant farm, £1 for a massive bucket of food that you can feed all the animals with, lovely play area and excellent staff! Excellent day out and great prices for families! Will defo be back all over summer!
