Epoch Straight Razors

So after keeping this under wraps for just over a week now, i can no longer keep it to myself. This is my second successful attempt at making a razor. It’s 01 tool steel that i bought from Sheffield, it’s an inch wide with a spine that is over 7mm. Scales are snake wood with an African ebony wedge, brass washers & pins. It’s not finished as i’m still running shaving tests with it but so far it’s a good shave.... It’s not perfect and there is still a lot of room for improvement but it’s a massive step up from restoring antique razors, this is the best i have done so far. If i continue to make them successfully then maybe another door will open, who knows. Apologies for the poor quality of pictures and vids, i will take professional pictures when i am satisfied with the end result. Thanks for looking. 😉👍🏻

Hi all, just wanted to keep you all in the loop with what has been happening, as to why i have not posted in a while. This summer has seen some challenging projects, not just with Epoch but with around my home & my family. It’s been a busy time but it’s all panning out in a positive way & hopefully i’ll be back posting soon. I don’t want to give too much away at this stage regarding Epoch Straight Razors but i thought you all deserved to know, i haven’t given up... & disappeared. Grinding like the auld days!

A restored Wade & Butcher razor in blonde honey horn scales, now lives in Germany with it’s new happy owner. 😊

A special test shave of the day with two razors, one is yet another W&B and the other is my first official made razor. The one i made is very far off from being perfect, from the uneven wide bevel, the terrible amateur etching of my makers mark to it’s size. It’s under 5/8 and under 3” long, kirinite scales and blonde honey horn spacer. The W&B is under 7/8, kirinite scales and African ebony spacer. I had over a weeks growth of beard, my one struggled to cut through the f...irst pass but it did with no cuts while the W&B cut with ease. The second & third passes both were very good but the W&B was obviously the better of the two by far. Both were sterilised and stropped after the shave & both passed the hht and the tree topping test. As i said my first razor is far from perfect, some would say this and that but it shaves and will shave again, job done. The W&B will be for sale soon but the Epoch razor will not be for sale as it’s my first. Thanks for looking.

Sotd with my A.P. Donovan razor that i bought a few years ago. It’s also my first shave with it since altering the heel & shoulder, reason being the shoulder kept hitting the stones when honing, thus preventing the heel of the edge from making contact with stones & damaging the stones. I also decided to re-scale it into it’s third set of scales from a display razor. I had to change the shape of the scales for it to fit and it still fits into it’s original box.

I bought a restored vintage straight razor from here, awesome restoration completed and real nice to shave with. Whole transaction was perfect start to finish and yes I would / will buy again here

Bought a lovely set of straight razors. Each razor was expertly and sympathetically restored so that each looked like they had done all those years ago. Both blades were cleaned, expertly honed and stropped so that they are literally razor sharp; easily passing the hanging hair test. A new set of scales were made for both razors and were made to be in keeping with the original scales that they once had. Both had gone from an old, blunt, rusty blade with poor, broken scales to super sharp razors with new scales. Superb and highly recommended.
