About F O O D S T O R Y

We are an independent cafe, built out of recycled materials. We are a creative, happy, community space, providing mainly veg /vegan food as well as creating artisan coffee.

F O O D S T O R Y Description

Who we are?
We are a group of people who, in 2013, launched a Kickstarter with a dream of building a space where anyone of any age, any walk of life of life could not just eat great, healthy food but could come in and feel part of a community through art and music. We believe in bringing people together.

What do we do?
From morning to evening, we serve healthy, locally-sourced food for all dietary requirements with a main focus on vegetarian and vegan food. Our ever expanding coffee menu of espresso and filter coffee offers up a variety of range of different coffee roasters as well as our house blend.

Whats important to us?
Aberdeen- we think that Aberdeen is a great city with amazing people in it. We wanted to create a space that the city is proud of for many years.

Our world and good food- we want to serve less meat in the cafe as we feel that focusing on a more veggie /vegan diet is friendlier to our planet.

We’re still only at the beginning of the journey, so come and visit us to see how we’re doing!

User

Wonderful food, fresh and very tasty . Friendly and helpful staff. Look forward to visiting again.

User

Well my first visit and certainly not my last! Just started a plant based healthier diet and wow your curried cauliflower wrap with sweet potato, peanut and satay salad absolutely delicious! Who knew meat and dairy food can be so tasty!

User

Visited today for the first time, after hearing nothing but good reviews from friends. As a meat eater, it was my first visit to a vegan eatery, and it was fantastic. Food was amazing, staff really friendly and helpful, and a lovely atmosphere, especially when someone very talented started playing on the piano. Would definitely recommend to friends, and will certainly be back for more!

User

Visited here for the 1st time today and it certainly won't be the last I am not vegan but lactose intolerant and can always be sure to get something to eat in a vegan restaurant. I had the chilli and husband had the lasagne both of which were absolutely delicious.

User

Visited for lunch today, absolutely delicious - and I'm a meat eater! Vegan macaroni for me - amazing, seriously did not know this even existed! So good, as was the side salad of sweet potato peanut satay chickpeas!! Took home some homebakes too, and they are super super tasty... In fact one was eaten on the street outside as I couldn't wait any longer! Packaging free nuts and oats etc upstairs is fab!! More places need this!!

User

My first visit ever to Food story and did not expect much as I heard it was a veggie/vegan café, but I never thought it would be so good!! I had the Aubergine Tagine and it was absolutely the best meal I have had in a long while, after the meal I just had to get another one to take-away. I’m definitely coming back for more!!

User

I went with two friends who love this place but never been myself. I had the vegan chilli bowl - delicious and really filling too. You wouldn't even realise that you're eating vegan food, so so tasty good! Lovely friendly staff and for what you get, it is great value for money. Keep up the good work guys.

User

I used to live in Aberdeen 5 years ago. When I came to this town after this time I was so happy to find such a beautiful place like this. I travel a lot around the globe and have to say that this coffee house is my favorite number one! Keep doing the great work guys. I felt like being at home. Love.

User

I love coming here. The staff are so friendly and talented, cooking up delicious fresh food everyday. I went to the new upstairs space this week and I'm so pleased to see a wide range of products I've previously had to order online.

User

I enjoyed the Soup event and hearing about the different projects. Today I refilled my shampoo and conditioner bottles! In the health food store upstairs. I had to weigh it and price it. First time for everything.

User

Great food and great shop. Melissa is lovely and friendly to talk to and generally in there a few times a week.

Food Story is one of my favourite places in Aberdeen. Great for food, cakes and good coffees/ smoothies and teas! It's one of the best places to go if you want something healthy as they have a large range of fresh salads - the only place in Aberdeen I know that does salads like it! It's also got a great community atmosphere and holds great events like gigs, music sessions, and community events. I love joining in the music sessions, it feels like you are part of a big family! I also love the continuous innovation that's going into developing the place such as cheese and wine nights on a Monday, or pancake Sundays! As well as the SOUP events held there and the local food market on the street outside. Food Story is a great community hub! Join in, you'll be welcome!

User

Finally got to Foodstory, have loved their posts and pictures for ages, and I wasn't disappointed, amazing beautiful food, wonderful space to be in, and very friendly helpful and lovely staff, happy to help, oh did I mention delicious food?! Was already planning my next meal there while waiting for my pancake, granola and rhubarb breakfast. Will definitely need to find the time for more trips to Aberdeen! Thanks all at Foodstory!

User

Excellent food, just delicious salads, great portions. Would recommend to anyone and will be coming again for sure.

User

Attended the Gin Fest tonight and sampled some of your food .. so delicious tasty but healthy will definitely be popping in for lunch very soon .

User

Atmosphere is very informal and relaxed. Nice lights and wee corners... A place where you can eat quality food with amazing flavours and RELAX. We loved it! And we will use the takeaway too

User

Amazing vegan deliciousness! Super friendly & helpful staff too. Choc & orange brownie is to die for!

User

Today we visited food story for a breakfast. we were hoping for the usual amazing smoked salmon, avocado and sour dough breakfast. Unfortunately we didn't realise it was vegan month. Breakfast was fine - tried tofu scramble for the 1st time however home made baked beans were too spicy for some in my group. Also the free refill filter coffee was cold and although switched on request made the visit all a little underwhelming when we were all so looking forward to breakfast. I am all in for the vegan menu - however wish I had realised this before coming. inconsistency for the consumer. fine for some but not me today. 3 stars only based on the fact that one friend absolutely loved the banana and nut butter sour dough.

User

Pros - the food was tasty and there was a wide selection for vegans; the staff were very helpful and friendly; nice atmosphere

Cons - it's overpriced! Also very hard to find out what the salad/wraps contained as the little stickers were super hard to read. Also there was no VEGAN labelling on the food, you have to read through each ingredient or ask the servers which is hugely time consuming during a busy lunch service and you get in the way of other people ordering food at the counter because you're reading!
