How to maintain your brakes and tyres during lockdown.
Tyres
To avoid flat spots developing and ensure your tyres remain sufficiently inflated, check the tyre pressure against those listed in your vehicle manual. In addition, we advise adjusting the parking position of your vehicle by a ¼ of a wheel turn once every 7 days, to change the point of pressure. Repeat as required.
... Brakes
After extended periods of no use, we’d recommend gently applying the brakes when first driving your vehicle again, at a low speed. This will help to remove any surface corrosion on the brake discs.

This continues our support of the Scottish Ambulance Service and follows on from our partnership with the Sandpiper Wildcat project from The Sandpiper Trust.

Our workshop and parts department remain open, in line with current guidance, for repairs, servicing and MOT's.
We are prioritising emergency service and key workers vehicles. If you require assistance please let our staff know.

During the current lock down cars are being driven less than usual, if at all.
Remember to carry out some basic checks of your vehicle before driving again.
1. Check your tyres. Pressures will be listed on the sill or door on many cars, if not, look in your owners manual. Ensure your tread meets the legal limit, despite the current MOT extension, cars must remain legal to drive. Look too at the walls of the tyres for signs of bulging or cuts.
... 2. Lights. Check all lights for function and cleanliness. You may need assistance to check brake lights and indicators.
3. Fluids. Check your oil, screen wash, brake fluid, power steering fluid and coolant. Refer to your owners manual for details.
4. Be careful when driving off. Brake surfaces may have built up surface corrosion that can temporarily reduce the effectiveness of braking.
