About Huntly Hairst

Huntly Hairst Food Festival

Huntly Hairst Description

A two day festival held each year in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, UK to promote and showcase local food production. Usually on the first weekend in September, the festival coincides with the Scottish Food Fortnight.

The Saturday events centre around the monthly Farmers Market in The Square, which is expanded for this month to include stalls which do not normally appear. It will have demonstrations by local producers and other food businesses. It hosts the now annual World Stovies competition and other competitions such as Can't Cook, Won't Cook, tablet and shortbread.

On Sunday the action moves to the Mart on the outskirts of the town for displays and demonstrations connected with farming and food production. Includes butchery demonstrations, rare breeds, sheep shearing, pigeon plucking and more.

If you ever wondered why your cooking never looked quite so perfect as the food in the picture of the magazin in which you found the recipe.....

There is so much one can say about TRUTH. If you put it into a poem we would like to read it!

Just off the Square in Huntly you can get lovely local produce. How the barter shop works:
•Bring any food that you have a surplus of, e.g. too many courgettes. •Exchange it for something else you would like or gift it. •If you have nothing to exchange now, think about what you might be able to bring back, e.g. chutney made with courgettes. Or what else you might have to offer, a skill or your time. ... •If you still think you have nothing to exchange, either pay what you can or take for free.
Come along to No.8 Castle St. and see how you can get involved!
