The Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven announces it is returning for a special 10th anniversary celebration
Bleak midwinter is here… which means it’s time for the Midsummer Beer Happening in Stonehaven to give everyone some summer fun to look forward to by announcing its dates for next year.
For three days, from Thursday June 20 to Saturday June 22, the phenomenally popular celebration of brilliant beer, fantastic food and marvellous music will attract some 5,500 people ...

So, 5,500 of you lovely people turned up at the Happening and raised £29,200 for local good causes. That’s £8,000 each to Stonehaven Sea Cadets, Stonehaven Amateur Swimming Club and local services of Alzheimer Scotland. And it means £1,000 each to Stonehaven Cycling Club, Mackie FP Rugby Club, Pillar Partnership, and Strive, the local fundraisers for rugby legend Dodie Weir’s charitable organisation. Stonehaven Lions will receive £750. All of that is because of you. Thank you so much. See you next year.

Just look at you lovely bunch!

Aloha. Did we mention it’s Hawaiian day at the Happening?

User

Be sure to check out the awesome artwork around the central bar 👨🏻‍🎨 local artist Chris Bissett did a brilliant job of unifying our love of beer & cycling 🍺🚴‍♂️

User

A true blue dream of a sky and beer. What else could you ask for. Giulianotti Ice cream? We have that too. Come on down we’ve plenty tickets on the door.

User

First sportive rider back from the Undo, John Eccles on 2hrs 47 min. Now go get a beer before the other 874 come in

User

Replinishing beers for the big day! See you folks at 12pm 🍺😁☀️😎

Retweeted Callum Main (@EECallum):
Great evening out at #msbh18 tonight. Fantastic crowd, incredible food and something like 120 different beers from across #Europe and the #USA. Massive credit to the army of volunteers behind it! https://t.co/GerspHHOCP

User

It’s not just about the beer ... there’s a huge sportive too. Sandwich elves are busy working to keep the 875 cyclists fuelled. Bring on the Cairn o’ Mount!

User

Live from #MSBH18

User

Were you at the Happening on opening night! See if you’re in our gallery....

User

Don’t have a ticket for tonight or tomorrow? No probs, just walk on up and pay at the door! (Or you can still grab online) Come on in, the beer is lovely - so’s the food and music. PS we have 47% more beer so you’ll keep drinking to last orders

User

What an excellent day atmosphere was amazing and of course the beer and ciders we good as well.

The bands were great just topped of a great day.

Cant thank the organisers and volunteers so much made the day. Think going to have to go for the 3 day event next year.

When do the tickets go on sale for 2018.

User

Well organised chilled out event. No trouble to be seen anywhere. Food and beers were all great. Lovely service from all the volunteers. The band's were pretty good as well as there had obviously been a lot of thought put into the event this year. Best one yet so great job and well done to everyone who made it happen this year.

Was our first time at this festival and we loved it! But I would do it a bit differently next time. We invested in the weekend pass, which I highly recommend. I would really commit my beer sampling time into Thursday evening as it wasn't quite so busy and all the taps were full! Friday evening is also great for trying your favourite beers. However Saturday I would just be going for the socializing, as many of the beers I had planned to sample this day sadly were no longer available even by early afternoon! That being said....it was truly an awesome event. Well done to the organizers! One last tip.....if your going for the weekend buy all of the beer tokens you think you'll be needing on Thursday and save yourself the long queuing on Friday and Saturday! Cheers!

User

Undoubtedly the best beer festival in Scotland. And to combine it with a cycle Sportif is just inspired! Exceptional organisation too! Brilliant!

User

Only attended the cycle event and although the hills were brutal it was a great route. The event was very well organised and was good to see such a big turnout. Maybe the cycle club would look into running another ride over the same routes later on in the year??? I know I for one would love to give it another go

User

Loved it all, especially combining the Sportive with a beer festival. Volunteers were all amazing, and brilliant value for money. £20 for beer and bike ride!

User

Love it. What a fantastic set up. Great drinks. Great food and entertainment also. It was my first year there. Certainly won't be my last.

User

Love it this year much bigger in side & out side. . More room too move about. Much enjoyed trying different drinks . Really enjoyed Germany schofferhofer grapefruit shandy. Refreshing drink. . Got two free drinks when you go In. Turn out too lovely day for out side. . Love the glass got free too keep. Good atmosphere. .most of all money goes too charity.

User

I’ve not been to a better beer festival. Sportive is incredible value. Only improvements I’d suggest is a bigger outdoor area and more of popular beer - a lot of dry taps later on the Saturday afternoon. Will 100% be back next year.

User

I’ve never missed a Baird Park beer fest/sportive ride yet and no intention of doing so in the future. Not sure how Robert and the team will top this years event but I’m sure he’ll have something in mind. Best weekend party Stonehaven has to offer. Chapeau to you all.

User

Great atmosphere, great music, well organised event. Only gripes, perhaps a bigger outside area with seats and tables, if we know it's going to be warm weather, and a larger selection of ciders and maybe some prosecco! It really is a great event and great for local charities, I will definitely be back next year!

User

First time at the Stonehaven beer festival but definitely won’t be the last. Fab day/night band were amazing. So well organised. volunteers did amazingly well. Other than running out of the favoured beer no real complaints. A wee wine stand would have been nice though as not a beer or cider drinker.

User

Excellent event, family friendly and very well organised. A great day out!

User

Bring it back next year! Had a brilliant time in the sun.... friends beer and music..... what else in life do you need... thank you beer happening!

Brilliantly run, fabulous happy bar staff despite melting in the heat

User

This is a great event and I really enjoyed it. I did the 100 mile sportive and should have been more organised with lifts (and more sociable) so that I could have tried a few beers. The volunteers were enthusiastic and very helpful. On finding out the bananas had run out one volunteer even offered me her banana from her lunch. Although the bananas ran out there was plenty of food and drink at the feed stops and the route was well sign posted. It is a fantastic event so well done to Robert and all of the volunteers who put in so much work to make it happen. I know everyone gives 5 star ratings these days but I am old fashioned so 4 stars from me means it is really good! Recommended.

User

Super evening- choice of beer was great but some unavailable by Saturday evening which was a shame. only downside was lack of food outlets. Queues were awful.

User

Had a great time again and the good weather was a huge bonus - just a shame there wasn't more outdoors space to enjoy it. Would be great if they maybe considered adding prosecco next year as that has gone down really well at other beer festivals

User

Did the Dinaedo (slowly!) and got the special Cycle Sportive Glass! But I took my eye off it for 10 seconds getting our last round of drinks, and some scumbag stole it off the bar! Gutted.

Otherwise, some fabulous beers on offer and loved the outdoor/indoor bit - perfect for such a hot evening.

User

Good experience except for running out of certain beers is disappointing. Happened last year also, such a shame they can't find a way to re stock the ones that are getting used quicker. Given the cost of the event and the tokens it would be nice for people to be able purchase what they want.
