We are very excited to announce that we are showcasing a solo exhibition with Jacob Littlejohn on the 15th of September. Littlejohn is a recent graduate from Glasgow School of Art, to which we had the pleasure to see his work at his degree show this year. We can't wait to see what he has been up to since!
Jacob Littlejohn's work explores the realms of human behaviour, often though depicting theatrical objects and pro...ps to compose an arrangement of structure like compositions. Littlejohn deals with his subject through a wide range of scale and a well tuned selection of colour palette.
"The central motifs include windows, stages and curtains, which act as physical and metaphorical barriers that either protect or expose intimate emotions and ideologies."
Here is his website, check it out!

It's the pot luck and flag sharing on Friday and we at tt and No.8 look forward to seeing you there!
to be kind to the planet we would kindly ask if people can limit the amount of disposable cutlery/plates/glasses you use. we will be bringing some tableware from home and welcome you to do the same.
you don't have to bring a dish to attend the event but it would be great to contribute to the feast ! if you do bring food please remain conscientious to those with allergies and... those who may be pesce/vege/vegan - hopefully there will be a nice mix of dishes that everyone can enjoy!
see you friday !

holding: Kirsty Russell
My practice is concerned with support and my relationship to it. Previous projects have been developed in response - noticing where something is lacking and working within those spaces. As a result I have built a body of work that thinks about support structures in relation to artist practice as well as in places of care and education - where I make space, encourage and balance.
The work in this exhibition is a continuation of this approach and attemp...ts to offer a visual understanding of support that borrows from the body, architecture and relationships.
Opening: Monday 10th September 6-9pm ~~ BYOB ~~ Continues: 11th - 13th September 11-5pm No.8 (Curated Stories Studio, 8 Claremont Place, AB10 6RH)
Additional event: Support Structures: a reading group / Tuesday 11th September 6-8pm (Please note that this event will be held at Grays School of Art. More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/189127145 4297410/?ti=ia)

We are excited to have Aberdeen artist-run initiative Tendency Towards taking over the No8 space, opening Thursday the 30th August 19:00 - 21:00 (BYOB) and will continue till Sunday 9th of September.
They will be exhibiting the outcome of their most recent project 'BECOMING KNOWN', a Flag Workshop that TT curated alongside artist Roos Dijkhuizen, inviting participants to reflect on the term 'becoming' to create a collaborative flag.
On the final day of the exhibit (7th of Sep...tember) we invite you to join us in a pot luck dinner where everyone can bring food and drink, celebrate the show and the groups support systems.
It was always important to us as a group to ask TT to get involved with the No.8 space as they have been a strong influence on us starting up our programme. They have demonstrated that there is space for this type of activity in Aberdeen. We hope that the example they have set will continue to encourage others, like us, to adopt a similar optimism and initiative to build an engaging community for artists and the public out with the art school.
More on the artist collaborating in the show:
Roos Dijkhuizen is an artist using print and installation to create curious objects that look at jarring natural states and alternating communities, in nature and in human constructs. Roos uses various materials and processes to bring together possible overlaps and scales of existing and disembodied worlds. Her ways of analysis involve collaboration and collective making, to be present in an exchange and reshaping of perception and the collective action that can occur made via these things.
Opening Times:
Monday CLOSED Tuesday 11:00 - 17:00 Wednesday 11:00 - 17:00 Thursday 11:00 - 17:00 Friday 11:00 - 17:00 Saturday 11:00 - 17:00 Sunday 12:00 - 17:00

For our third event of our No.8 Summer Programme, we have selected three creatives that have passed through the city within recent years, crossing over various disciplines. This talk will aim to explore the various paths and avenues that occur after leaving art school and discuss the process of moving forward with an independent practice.
We will address questions about Aberdeen, the importance of travel and the general contemporary issues of a creative.
