Using our state-of-the-art Synergy grill, we chargrill our steaks all the way up to 360 degrees. Throughout the cooking process, the juices from the steaks drip down onto a stone base and are then reabsorbed by the cut, providing the ultimate flame-grilled flavour experience with each bite!

We were recently at the Porterhouse for their Gourmet Tasting event. Absolutely fantastic food, drinks, and service. Thoughtfully planned menu for the night, each course was paired with gins and wines, and accompanied by an interesting narrative from their guru explaining the rationale behind their choices. We felt lucky to be there! This place is a real gem and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone, can't wait to go back!

User

We attended the May gourmet night yesterday and it was a fabulous experience. The wines and dishes were lovely and the service attentive. We definitely will be coming to the next one!

User

Visited today with my Granny, Mum, Sister and 1Year old daughter for afternoon tea. Absolutely delicious selection of sandwiches and home bakes...a truly indulgent treat that we all throughly enjoyed. Waiting staff were very attentive and friendly and even came to the rescue with some toys for my daughter to play with when she started getting restless. Thank you for making our slightly early mothers day treat so special. We will hopefully be back soon

User

Unlikely place for a restaurant! Service excellent and by far the best teak I have tasted. Only negative was there is no Porterhouse steak restaurants near Edinburgh or a Glasgow

User

This was our first visit for a Sunday carvery and we were not disappointed. We decided on starters and carvery and it was delicious. Fresh vegetables, good quality meats, and lashings of proper gravy. What else could you ask for?. The service from waiting staff, bar staff and lovely chef was 1st class. Informative smiley faces who obviously love their jobs. The ambience is spot on and on a day of 30 degrees the aircon was very welcome. The price was slightly more than your cheapo style carveries but you get what you pay for and it was excellent value for money. Locally sourced meats are worth that wee bit extra. All in all a lovely Sunday afternoon made even better with wonderful food and service. Can't wait to return.

Prior to arriving, we viewed a menu online that had been updated in the restaurant so the meal I was hoping to have wasn't available. However the waiter arranged for a similar chicken dish to be served and it tasted amazing! Good service, however only gripes were there was more focus on taking orders than clearing ours and offering the dessert menu. We had additional drinks added to our bill as an error but they were removed with no problems. All in all lovely setting and nice food!

User

Myself and my girlfriend went this evening and enjoyed a fantastic meal for Valentine’s Day. The staff were very professional and the meal was top quality. Looking forward to our next visit in March

User

Have been to the Porterhouse twice in recent times for my own dad's 70th and my father-in-laws 70th! Both times the staff were very friendly & accommodating and could not be faulted.

Our reservation on both occasions was for 12 or more people including 4-6 kids under the age of 6! We were served quickly and efficiently and nothing was too much bother. The menu was varied and interesting with a great range of local produce.

On both occasions I opted for the carvery, it was delicious both times. Other members of the group ate from the menu and were equally as impressed.

This is a really good family restaurant and I can highly recommend it. We're back again in March for the start of a Staff Night Out... I'm sure it'll be 5stars all over again!

User

Great food and great service! Expensive but worth it. Great place for family’s, solo eaters and perfect for a romantic meal. Loads of parking.

User

Fantastic meal twinned with equally fantastic service. We've never been disappointed by this restaurant. The format of the restaurant works really well, when you arrive you sit in the relaxed seating in the bar to order your meal before moving through to your table. The staff are very attentive and get the balance just right between looking after you and allowing you to enjoy your meal in peace. The food was great, it's maybe slightly more expensive than some places (although on par with most local eateries) but worth it. There is a children's menu, we personally have always opted to come here on nights we have a babysitter as the atmosphere tends to be quite relaxing, having said that the menu for children looks great and they are welcome. We will most definitely be back.

User

User

Was there for lunch today and we both had Lentil soup it was unusual but very tasty

Main meal my wife had Scampi which was a great portion size and very tasty

I had the haddock again couldn't fault portion or quality

My gripe is actually is with the price of the drink 2 soft drinks

Soda water and lime £2-50

Pint of Lemonade and line £3-10

Really shocking for soft drinks

User

First time we came here last year we loved it, excellent service and the steak was amazing. On the next two visits over the course of the last few months we've been left very disappointed - on one visit both our steaks were very well done when they should've been rare which I'm baffled as to how wrong you can get that, my second steak came out and it was blue and stone cold. They knew it was bad as we were refunded wine and dessert. We attended the food tasting in between which was well run and the tasting menu nice enough. We gave it another chance very recently for a family dinner and unfortunately our visit in terms of service was much worse. First of all we were ignored by the female maitre d' or manager - we stood at the entrance to give the name of our booking and she did speak to us but didn't even bother to raise her head or make eye contact. We arrived at 7pm for a booking at 7.30 aware we would be seated in the bar for a drink which we were more than happy with. We were shown a seat but no menu. These were requested and our drinks order was placed. 7.40 our drinks turned up after prompting and we placed our dinner order, still seated at the bar (another prompt to place our order). The table next to us received their canapés and by 8.25 we're starting to get a bid fed up. I spoke to a waiter who said she would get our canapés for our table, she showed us to the table, laid down the canapés and then promptly arrived with our steaks so the canapés were utterly pointless and weren't eaten. By this point it was after 8.30 - for a table we had booked at 7.30. Wine took another age to both order and arrive, disappeared without waiting to hear which wine we we actually wanted. Once again they realised and drinks and dessert for 5 were deducted although this time the steaks were actually cooked as we requested and delicious. It's not a patch on the service from last year, the maitre d' then was amazing and couldn't do enough and a small mistake was very quickly rectified. I'm very reluctant to go again until the service or front of house vastly improves which is a shame as the food and atmosphere are lovely.

First meal in the Porterhouse since my husband became disabled no problems at all nice and spacious and disabled toilet well equipped

The service and the meal all as we expected, will certainly return and recommen it to family and friends

User

Really disappointed with the service. Had a table booked for 8pm for 2 people but told it wasn't ready and to sit in the lounge. We were sat there for 25 mins then given a menu to look at and was surprised we had To order our food before being seated at a table. When we finally were seated we had to wait a further 45 mins for our food. Also table wasn't set there was no cutlery or napkins. It felt like the tables that had more than 2 people at them were giving more attention. I understand it was busy but instead of saying sorry for your wait all we got told was it's worth the wait! All in all I really won't be rushing back here anytime soon.

Good service, however only gripes were there was more focus on taking orders than clearing ours and offering the dessert menu. We had additional drinks added to our bill as an error but they were removed with no problems. All in all lovely setting and nice food!

Myself and my girlfriend went this evening and enjoyed a fantastic meal for Valentine’s Day. The staff were very professional and the meal was top quality. Looking forward to our next visit in March

Great food and great service! Expensive but worth it. Great place for family’s, solo eaters and perfect for a romantic meal. Loads of parking.
