***Are you planning to travel to Europe with your pets? Please find below current government advice about the effect of Brexit on pet travel.***
In the event of a 'no deal' Brexit the requirements for documents and health checks for pet travel to Europe will change. The regulations will depend upon how the UK is classed, but should the UK become an unlisted third country then pet owners need to start planning now. Please speak to one of the veterinary team at Robson Vets at l...east four months before you wish your pet to travel.
Currently the best advice appears to be that pets will still require to be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies. However, in addition, we will now need to collect blood AT LEAST 30 DAYS after the date of vaccination and test for rabies antibodies. Provided the pet passes the blood test they will be able to travel but will have to wait AT LEAST THREE MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF BLOOD COLLECTION TO THE DATE OF TRAVEL.
For those pets which have already been vaccinated against rabies and issued with a pet passport we recommend a rabies booster vaccination is given now rather than waiting until the due date. This allows the longest possible time for the blood sampling and waiting period to take place. The reason for the re-vaccination is to maximise the chance of the pet passing the blood test.
Whilst there is still an element of uncertainty regarding the changes, please act now to ensure that your pet is ready to travel legally. Be assured that none of the vaccinations or blood tests will prevent your pet from travelling if there is no impact of Brexit on the pet travel scheme.

*Calling all rabbit owners*
We have unfortunately had recent cases of rabbit haemorrhagic disease 2 in our area. This is a relatively new disease which causes bleeding from major organs and is invariably fatal. We currently can vaccinate against RHD1 but this new disease is a mutated form of RHD1 and requires a different vaccination in order for rabbits to be protected. We are now stocking RHD2 vaccine and would advise that your rabbits are vaccinated against this nasty disea...se. Please note that rabbits will still need to have their annual myxomatosis and RHD1 vaccination to ensure they are fully protected. If you have any queries, or would like to book your rabbit in then please call one of our surgeries.

*** MISSING CAT ***
This lovely lady is missing from home - her owners are very concerned as they have had reports that a cat similar in appearance was hit by a car/van earlier today. Nala is missing in the Lyall Crescent area and is microchipped. We have had no reports of this accident and she hasn't been handed in. Please keep your eyes peeled and let us know any information. Many thanks.

User

We would like to reassure all our clients that we DO provide our own out-of-hours service. We are available for you 24/7 - outside of opening hours just call the usual number and you will be connected with either our nurse or vet on duty who will either be able to give you advice or see your pet if necessary.
Your pet will be taken care of by one of our usual staff at our own facilities in Laurencekirk, where we have staff on site throughout the night to ensure the best possible care.

fantastic service with follow up phone call

User

We have had wonderful treatment for both our bracken and Bailey. Bailey has had lots of issues over last 2 years and the staff at Robsons were fantastic... they also coped me being a blubbering mess. Thanks to everyone in both Laurencekirk and Portlethen practices.

User

We have been with Robson for around 5 years. They have always been great. Recently our 9 week old puppy (we had only had him 5 days) Chief became seriously ill over the Christmas period. The staff there were amazing, within hours they told us he needed an operation and they always kept us updated on his condition. I know it was touch and go at one point but I honestly couldn't thank the vets, nurses and carers there. We always felt they looked after Chief, I even think he was sad to leave them when we collected him after 9 days with a clean bill of health!

User

The team have been fantastic with our 13 year old dog Kobi. He had to have surgery on a tumour and the whole team have been very supportive and helped us through it really well. They looked after Kobi while he had to stay in after his operation as well.

User

Thank you a million times for getting my lovely Beth back to health after pancreatitis. She was a very poorly dog and admitted to the hospital in Laurencekirk for 5 nights after 3 days of trying to get her temperature down etc as an out patient. What a team! I felt that they really cared and also was confident in their clinical knowledge. On Sunday, Laura the vet suggested I took her home to see if she would eat and brighten up in her home environment and it worked, so pleased. I did this knowing that if I felt she wasn’t right I could take her straight back over to them. She did this to see if a feeding tube could be avoided the next day and you hear of practices just going ahead with things in the name of profit but not here, always it was what was best for the dog. She is doing amazingly well and was given her last review today one very happy owner and dog, thank you.

User

Robson’s Vets are super; especially Catriona the nurse. She’s so helpful and friendly, a real asset to the group.

User

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Liz the vet who has worked with me throughout this winter with my old pony. She was so helpful and thorough and very patient and even when we called she made time to talk things through with us. but sadly age was not on Puffins side so we decided to peacefully call it a day with her where again Liz was there and was caring, gentle and made the whole horrible day easier for us she showed true love and compassion to both puffin and our whole family who was all there to say their goodbyes and were all upset. We will always be grateful Liz truly.

With warmest regards

The Thomson family

I’ve been with the portlethen branch since Max was a pup. He is now 5 and we have 2 huskies now and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Fab staff, especially Mary and service is impeccable. Would totally recommend. Xx

User

I've been with the portlethen one for 15 years. I had my Tyson a staffy for nearly 15 years. They was always brilliant with him right up until the end they taken care of everything for us when he went to sleep. I've now got a rescue staffy again they're brilliant with her

User

I have been with Robson Vets for over 20 years and they have always been very helpful, professional and friendly, offering a great service.

User

I have been a customer since 1999 and have always received excellent service. My two old dogs lived to be over 16 years old due to the knowledge and care provided by the Robson Practice over the years. They were not always the easiest dogs to handle at the vets and patience was always shown. I have always appreciated how quickly the practice responds to emergency situations. I now have a new dog and will continue as a customer.

User

Have always been a fantastic vets, but exceptional care was given to our puppy who broke her elbow on the Christmas holidays. So grateful to the staff for her amazing care!

User

Fantastic team! Always a pleasure to visit and really good with Maverick!!

User

Excellent value for money and my dog Bailey enjoyed his first visit xx

User

Cannot thank Lis enough for all her help during a very tough day on Sunday, I called in a panic and she was out at my field within 15 minutes, she calmed the situation right down which made me feel at ease, I then called back in the afternoon for some advice which was given without any hesitation, then I finally called back around an hour later to tell her some sad news, Lis came out to the field straight away and was very comforting and knew exactly what to say, made me feel so much better at such a sad time. Thank you again.
