About Saplinbrae Hotel And Lodges
Saplinbrae is a country hotel in Aberdeenshire showcasing relaxed dining and living.
Saplinbrae Hotel And Lodges Description
Originally built in 1756, Saplinbrae Hotel and Lodges showcases the best in relaxed dining and living, where the quality of service and commitment to consistency is excellent, but still personal and fun!
All of our nine bedrooms have historic charm—original cornices and their own wee quirks—which we have complemented this with local art, antique prints and touches of tweed from our local mill. They are a fitting counterpart to the spectacular views from your window of acres of uninterrupted, rolling Buchan farmland.
Our self-catering lodges can be found in the hotel grounds—firstly, our stone Shooting Lodge which features four double en-suite bedrooms and a spacious kitchen-living area, and then our two cozy chalets.
The hotel dining room offers relaxed, everyday dining, with contemporary takes on traditional foods. Having a strong agricultural connection within our team, we deem the provenance to be of the highest importance. We are genuinely committed to sourcing locally, and always source from Buchan, Aberdeenshire and Scotland as far as possible—our fish comes from suppliers in Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Sandend, our beef from Foveran, much of our pork and lamb from our own family farms in Kininmonth and the Black Isle and our vegetables from Morag in Crimond. We serve lunch and dinner daily from 12. 00pm and 6. 00pm daily, and you can pop in past anytime for a slice of carrot cake and a coffee.
We are located in North Aberdeenshire, and Saplinbrae is the perfect seat from which to enjoy a weekend away: great walks, around the Pitfour Estate and the Buchan and Formartine Line, can be found on our doorstep, as well as Aden Country Park and several local golf clubs only a few miles away. We have great links with local fly fishing and shooting clubs for those looking for a wee bit of adventure, and can recommend the perfect spot to enjoy a good book for those who prefer a slower pace.

We hired a private room for my Nana’s 90th birthday meal. The food was amazing & service was excellent
We had a meal at saplinbrae yesterday evening and it was lovely. Have been a few times for various meals and afternoon tea and have always enjoyed coming but last night was definitely my favourite. Friendly staff and prompt service on top of the great food, so overall a great experience!
We had a brilliant Afternoon Tea last weekend at Saplinbrae!! Absolutely first class!! Great selection and loads to choose from. Staff were all lovely too. Highly recommended 5
Visited on a weekday evening for dinner. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff were really friendly with just the right level of attentiveness. The food was wonderful and for the two of us with soft drinks three courses coffee and a port with the cheese board we were under £70. We'll be back for more. Definitely best to book though as we tried for dinner the week before and all the tables were taken.
Stayed in one of the lodges for my daughters birthday . Loved it x
Lovely mini break at Saplinbrae Hotel this weekend to celebrate my husbands 70th. Staff were so welcoming. Hotel was spotless and food was first class. Highly recommended.
Lately been for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, can't fault any of them. Food great and service brill, especially our cocktail maker last night. Great to have such happy, helpful staff! Can't wait to go back
Had morning coffee and a scone which was delicious. Service really good, staff attentive and polite. Couldn’t fault anything, will be back .
Had a lovely evening here last night at Saplinbrae and the food woz absolutely amazeballs especially the tomato and butternut squash & coconut soup yummy xx
Had a lovely afternoon tea today with friends-we all throughly enjoyed the sandwiches and savoury bites to eat. The scones were perfect and all our fine pieces just tasted wonderful and the hotel kitchen was accommodating for my nut allergy. Would highly recommend for a cosy afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings.
Had a fantastic stay room was lovely meal was fantastic and all the staff from the moment we arrived were nothing but courteous and friendly. Will certainly be back very soon 🖒
Had a family gathering at Saplinbrae last night. The meal was fantastic as was the service. Can't fault the place. Gave us a fine time between courses - wasn't rushed in the least. Just perfect. Thank you.
Had a fabulous afternoon tea - beautifully presented and tasted amazing definitely to be recommended 👍👍
Fantastic meal and great staff. Couldn’t fault it.
Fantastic gluten free afternoon tea. A few weeks have passed since I enjoyed afternoon tea at Saplinbrae, however since I am STILL thinking about the gf haggis bon bon I thought I would leave a review. It's such a rarity to get "normal" food and this was a real treat, so thank you. (Please note; the whole afternoon tea was delicious but I just had to give special mention to the haggis bon bon )
Fabulous food, great service . Relaxed place to meet friends .
Excellent hotel, got an upgrade, when I arrived, evening meal and breakfast, very nice and staff really friendly and helpful. Will use the next time I am in the area for work 👍
Excellent hotel with beautiful rooms, friendly staff and very good quality home cooked food... I shall be back.....
Excellent afternoon tea - one of the best I’ve had (and there’s been a fair few!)
Varied choice of savoury and sweet treats and all delicious!
Very enjoyable and would certainly have no hesitation in recommending!
