About Somebody Cares Retail Megastore

Charity Megastore which helps to raise funds to keep the Warehouse going to support the local community in need.

Somebody Cares Retail Megastore Description

Somebody Cares Retail Centre is open for raising funds for our buildings and the work that we do. A small amount of things are donated to the charity - Some things are bought in. This side is totally separate from our warehouse which is open for helping the needy.
Without the retail centre we would not be able to fund our food bank, our warehouse and the retail centre to keep us up and running to helping the needy people of the city.

The staff at Somebody Cares work extremely hard at helping those people in Aberdeen and the Shire who have nothing or very little of what most of us generally take for granted:: a meal each day, a change of clothes and a roof over our heads that we can call home. We are each and every one of us grateful for the kindeness of our donators, and of course our customers, loyal and new, and we are equally grateful to our volunteers who help out of the kindness of their hearts in en...suring that Soimebody Cares can continue to help those in great need. However, with the increase in demand we are looking for more help and more volunteers, both at the Megastore and at our warehouse. Do you have some spare time, some spare hours that you might like to give to help a good cause? Do you have life skills that you might like to offer? Are you a roofer, a plumber, mechanic, electrician or something else? If you would like to help, a little or a lot, then please do contact us either here, or at the Megastore or warehouse, and we will be only too happy to help you become part of a great team. Thank you.

It is with deep sadness that we have to announce that our beloved fruit & veg man Dave passed away a few weeks ago. We will miss Dave and his cheery smile every week and our thoughts are with all of the family at this time.

Bought some marble furniture here a couple of weeks ago. All staff that I came across were helpful and friendly, answering any questions I had. Noticed as I was browsing the changes to the store - so much better. Will be back very soon.

User

A very busy place but very helpful staff, lots of stock to choose from, I'll certainly be back soon.

User

A good selection of quality furniture in a wide range of styles. A great place to find something unusual at a good price. The staff are very helpful. I look forward to coming back and trying the Thai food.

We popped out on Saturday, walking up from Queen’s Road.

We had a lovely lunch in Thai Seasons Cafe which is hidden away out back and then we browsed through Somebody Cares finding some vintage crockery to add to my collection. On our way out, we bought some duck eggs from the farmer’s stall.

User

But way to expensive it's a charity shop think need to remember that and sort it out or No one will go

User

Tired of seeing the same over priced furniture

Better to sell off at reasonable cost to enable stock turn over

Who ever is responsible for pricing needs to remember that .

Shop smells of Mould as building is in a state of disrepair and the longer stuff stays in the shop the harder to get rid of the musty smell.

User

Popped in to visit today, for the first time. Very well laid out shop and the general quality of items seemed to be reasonably good. However, I feel it was very over priced. Bearing in mind it is a charity shop, you expect to get things cheaper than they would be if they were brought brand new and of course, still make money for the charity. For example, there was an IKEA 'Lack' coffee table in white. It is £16 from IKEA (brand new, obviously)but this charity shop was asking for £30. Perhaps more thought needs to go into the pricing of items, which in turn will encourage more people to visit and buy things, thus, resulting in more money for a very worth while cause.

User

Not very caring to people looking for support to set up home eg after being in hospital long term

Advised need to make appointment weeks hence .No use if you have imminent discharge from hospital .

Hostile and patronising

My husband and I have been coming here since it opened and have seen such a difference in the attitude of the staff. They are not the least bit friendly any more. Also they please themselves what price to charge. I was looking for a specific type of furniture and when I saw it there I was quoted £30 which I thought was expensive for what it was. I said id think about it. On meeting up with my husband further on he said he saw it and asked how much and the lady had said £15.

Needless to say my husband bought it from the lady. The gentleman that I asked 40/50ish is always asking for more than things are worth, why!! On another occasion we witnessed a member of staff paying for a car seat some large toys baby items and some clothes plus a number of other items. Let's just say ten pounds the assistant said. We were in the que and handed over two pairs of trousers and was charged £12.

This guessing at prices should be stopped. It is only correct and fair to put price labels on items and a fair price at that.

User

I like very good charity but last week I noticed yew coffee table that was just in I would have loved it but gentleman in charge when asked about it said oh I haven't seen it it new let's say £60 I thought that was very expensive,

User

Somebody cares? More like nobody cares!!! Attitude of female in the cafe today was awful. Short staffed or not there is a way to speak to people. We waited 30 minutes for a sandwich & cafe was not busy at all. Myself & family will not be returning after the experience today it has put us right off!

User
