After a really productive and enjoyable workshop session last night the task to develop the new 'Kingswells Connected' website begins in earnest!

Our recent work with Aberdeen International Airport is now on their website. 4 videos to highlight a number of elements of their special assistance service.

Our Into Film club takes place at shmu, every Wednesday 5-7pm. It's an exciting opportunity for young people to learn about filmmaking and get practical experience making and watching films. Get in touch if you'd like to come along!

A demonstration was held against proposed cuts to services by Aberdeen City Council. Shmu Youth TV went along to speak to some of the community organisations facing the cuts.

As you may have seen in the press this week shmu are one of the charities who are risk of having our funding cut if these proposed cuts are approved next week.
We, alongside many other services in the city, receive a large proportion of funding from Fairer Aberdeen Fund, which will potentially lose £538,000. Fairer Aberdeen Funds pays for a large amount of the projects and services that we provide and any cuts will have an impact on the type of services we can offer our targe...t communities.

We’ve had some good news from last year's Aberdeen BFI Film Academy Team with the films set to be screened at another couple of festivals.
Satsuma will play at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival in the "Filmmakers of Tomorrow Showcase’ in March. Then in April "Metropolitan Spaghetti" will screen at the Brazosport Arts in Media Festival in Texas.
Following on from a screening at the Inshort Film Festival in Nigeria in December, Metropolitan Spaghetti will now ha...ve screened on 3 continents.

We recently launched a Youth TV Into Film Club which is aimed at 11-19 year olds who would like to watch films and learn about how they are made behind-the-scenes. The club runs at shmu (202 Ashgrove Road West) every Thursday from 6-8pm for 11 to 19 year-olds, free to those who are living or attending the local schools in the regeneration areas across the city. If you would like to come along and learn more about how to create films yourself, please get in touch with Rich, our TV Development Worker on richard.ferguson@shmu.org.uk

AGM and End of Year Celebration
We would like to invite you to attend an event which will combine a celebration of the achievements and hard work of all our volunteers over the year, and our Annual General Meeting. The evening will enable you to meet fellow volunteers, find out even more about the organisation’s work and plans for the future, and enjoy some light refreshments.
Please come along at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
... Presentations will be made by the Chair of the shmu Board and the Chief Executive, including an update on our new building. The audited accounts will also be presented, and members will be asked to vote on the retention of our auditors. Each strand of work will host a display at the event and staff will be available to answer any questions.

Well, what can we say? It’s been an incredible 26 hours up at shmuHQ for our Giving Tuesday Radio-thon! We had DJ lessons, dancing lessons, Are You Smarter than YRP?, countless charity visits and a lesson in the eighties...
Our incredible volunteers raised an awesome £1,755 for our Paving the Way to Woodside fundraising campaign. Our Chief Exec Murray announcer that our total so far is enough to secure a brand new radio desk for our new building! Thank you to everyone who supported us over the past 26 hours. Tune in again next year 😉
