The Cat In The Window Cafe Description

Hello my fellow feline lovers!

My name is Heather, I love cats, and I want to introduce you to a new concept I have been working on - The Cat in the Window Cat Café. Now that the cat is out the bag (pardon the pun - you may spot a few in this pitch! ), we need your help to bring the Cat Café experience to Aberdeen!

We love all animals, but have a special spot for our super fluffy, cuddly, fuzzballs, that make us all so happy. We want to bring that kitty happiness to everyone in Aberdeen, every single day, and we know just how to do it. The answer - introducing Aberdeen's first ever Cat Café!

You may not be familiar with the idea of Cat Cafe's but the concept is relatively simple (yet genius! ): a cat café features cats in residence, where visitors purchasing entry passes can enjoy the privilege of hanging out with the café cats. Ultimately the attraction is to provide kitty companionship to cat lovers, but additional services on offer within 'The Cat in the Window Cafe' range from speciality locally produced teas, coffees, cakes and a variety of events, as well as kitty related merchandise and books available for purchase. The welfare of the cats is the most important factor for us, and so the café is set up to be a kitty paradise where the cats can be worshiped and pampered by fellow cat lovers. The Cat in the Window Café will be the most pawesome sanctuary for them to play in, fitted out with all the tunnels, boxes, scratching posts, dangling string, climbing apparatus, sunny window seats, and toys you can imagine!

Not forgetting the customers needs, you will reap the therapeutic rewards that feline companionship in proven to provide, all within a stunning but peaceful setting, with delicious sweet treats and beverages on offer to 'purrfectly' compliment the atmosphere! Working closely with the local ‘Cats Protection’ Charity, one of our key ethos’s is to raise awareness and promote cat adoption for the local cats in need of their forever home. Although the Café cats will not be available for adoption, information on the processes for adoption and the cats available for rehoming will be readily available to our customers.

Sound right up your alley cat?

That's the dream of the Cat in the Window Café, but we need your help! Please pledge generously, and before we can blink our little furry eyes, we'll be open and playing with the cutest little family imaginable. While most of the start-up funds are covered with the help of the Princes Trust and the bank, we need to raise a further £5000 with your help.

We have put together a bunch of perks that are sure to get you as excited about the Café as we are! On top of this, contributing to the launch will make you a part of the Cat Cafe Family, and our fuzzy buddies will snuggle with you that little bit more love (yay). Your contribution will be used to fit out the café as a kitty paradise, providing the cats with floor to ceiling play and climbing apparatus, for our kitties to get up to all kinds of mischief with! If the target is not met by the time the campaign ends, you will be refunded with any money you have contributed.

Possibly more important than the funds, the real point of this campaign is to test the waters and see if the concept is one that generates interest from the people of Aberdeen. Your support is so vital when determining whether or not this concept is something that the people want, so we would encourage you to support the cause in any way you can. If you cannot contribute by purchasing our pledges, other ways you can help are to share this page with your friends and family, and provide us your opinions /suggestions along the way.

You will find our campaign at

Thanks for your support and much love!

It is with heavy hearts that we announce The Cat in the Window Cafe is now closed with immediate effect.
We truly have had the time of our lives and it has been a pleasure meeting you all. In the 2 and a half years we have made so many new friends, put thousands of smiles on thousands of faces and brought a little sunshine and fluffiness to the grey city.
We assure all of our supporters that, at all times, the cats are our utmost priority and this is partly the reason we have... come to this decision. Our overheads are simply too high to continue the venture, and without seriously compromising the cats welfare we just can't compete with the rising cost of operating a business in Aberdeen - and thats just not something we are willing to do.
So it's bitter sweet, I am delighted to have all the cats at home once again but also really sad that I can't share the happiness they bring me with you guys anymore. But know that they are happy and will be for a long time. We will of course share their progress with you guys on our social media pages when they are fully settled back into their home again. And I know they will miss you all as much as I will; I am so grateful for all the support and love from you guys over the past 2 and a half years, you helped make a dream a reality and that can only ever be a positive.
We will be contacting all people with future bookings to inform them of these developments over the coming 24 hours.
I would also just like to say that, for anyone looking for their local kitty fix - Willows Animal Sanctuary & Animal Assisted Therapy Unit run an amazing charity programme out at New Pitsligo. They have around 70 cats as well as many other animals they have taken into their care and hand on heart its one of the most amazing places I have ever experienced. These cats live around the farm and although most of them can't be seen theres a handful of cats who are so friendly and love human affection, so its definitely worth a visit!
Again, we thank you for the wonderful happy times we have shared with you since we started the project in 2015. It breaks our hearts that it has to end this way, without a proper goodbye. We ask for privacy and compassion at this very difficult time, and that you remember your happy times with us fondly - always.
We will keep you all updated with how the cats are getting on in the near future.
Thank you for the meowmories, we wont forget you! 🐾 The Cat in the Window Cafe Team x

Here's hoping everyone got the exam results they were hoping for, but if not just remember there is #nowrongpath.
I'm Heather, I left school before my 16th birthday and went to college to study art. I then got my degree in fashion design, came out of uni and went straight into the oil and gas industry, where I worked my way up and became the lead of my sector aged 24. I then made the scariest decision of my life and packed in my career at 25 to launch my own business, and... here I sit today at 29 years of age writing this with 12 cats, 2 dogs, a toddler, and a whole lot of support for The Cat in the Window Cafe from you guys ❤ who knows where I'll be in 5 years time but I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and here I am now feeling pretty smug with the choices I made that have lead up to this point...best of luck to you all and aim for happiness over anything else!

Went here for my birthday on June 15 (Friday). Absolutely beautiful. Cats are gorgeous. Really relaxing environment & I received a birthday card from the cats wonderful place... cakes & drinks also delicious. Thank you!! Will be back! Xx

User

We had a lovely and relaxing time there meeting the kitties and having tea and snacks. The venue is fresh and clean, and the furry critters are friendly and sociable. The member of staff was very welcoming and clearly loves working there. Will definitely be going back.

User

Warm, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The boyfriend and I went for a nice day during the snow . We got in and were served by a lovely woman who did her best to ensure our comfort and help us get the most out of our time with the cats. Everything was altogether lovely , with nice refreshments available to buy as well. I’d recommend the Nutella hot chocolate! Beautiful kitties and lovely day , if you’re a cat lover like me - or just want a day out , it’s definitely worth it Remember to read all terms , conditions etc. before you venture out. They’re very individual to this place only and important . Fantastic website too for more information - not only of terms, rules and the basics, but profile of each of the cats so you can know a little before you go! Definitely pop it on your list of things to do when in Aberdeen

My friend and I visited on 25 May, and it was an amazing experience. The staff were really friendly and approachable, the other customers were peaceful, and the cats were just delightful and lovely. It was such a relaxing hour, and was one of the highlights of my trip to Aberdeen. Would definitely recommend you check it out, and would love to go again!

User

I’ve visited twice now and loved both times. The service we’ve received has been superb both times and the kitties are always positively adorable. I always try to make a point to visit whenever I’m in town - sadly as someone who doesn’t live locally I don’t get to visit nearly as often as I’d like to.

Can’t wait to come again! :)

User

I’m a regular at the cafe and yoga sessions but today was the first time taking my eight year old son and the kitties and staff definitely didn’t disappoint! The staff were lovely and took time to show my little one the cats favourite toys, which had them very active and showing off their playful skills! The hot chocolate station was a massive hit! A fantastic festive day out!

User

I have visited the Cat in the Window Cafe a few times now, once with my mum and twice with work. I am a Support Worker and we have an elderly lady who loves to go and see the 'puss puss' - the staff at are brilliant and very understanding towards her learning disability and wheelchair use. The cats are all very well looked after and friendly. Would 100% recommend!!

User

I have an amazingly cosy happy time every time I visit but the movie nights are something special. <3 I went to one of the Harry Potter movie nights (with quiz and prizes!!) and it was just about the best night ever.

We got to relax and choose any drink from the menu; there were magical inspired treats (in case you're wondering, it's not only children that can make themselves feel sick on sweeties - pace yourselves!!) and a create your own hot chocolate station. There were blankets and pillows and cats and a movie to enjoy. The quiz was excellent too, it was actually challenging for serious Potter heads like myself, and soo much fun.

I can't wait for the next round of Potter movie and quiz nights! Wish I had taken the opportunity to get in on a Christmas movie night too. <3

User

Had the best time at the Harry Potter Night this Tuesday! It might seem a bit pricey but is actually really, really good value - 3 hours of kitty cuddles and fun, a movie, unlimited sweets and a hot chocolate with tons of toppings! We were also lucky enough to watch the Prisoner of Azkaban, the best film :D Thanks so much for the great night!

User

Fabulous experience definitely worth a visit if you are in Aberdeen, the kitty's are beautiful as is the owner, lovely relaxed calm environment and a good cuppa! Thank you

User

Came here when we’re were in Aberdeen for a few days and I love it. It such a relaxing place (with or without the cats ). I had the hot chocolate made with coconut milk and the gluten free strawberry sundae cake and they were gorrrgeous!

As a cat connoisseur, spending time with the charming kitties at The Cat in the Window Cafe ranks among one of my favourite things to do in Aberdeen. I was looking forward to my second visit with the felines and it did not disappoint. My favourite at The Cafe is ol' blue eyes Zeus. Is it his handsome fluff coat? His striking blue eyes? His larger than life purrsonality? Or all of the above? Whatever it is, I always find myself magnetically attracted to him and spending most of my visit checking out his shenanigans. The supporting cast of characters puts on quite the show, too, though. It's fascinating watching your charming cat family interact with each other and engage with the patrons. I was especially tickled pink when the kitties mobbed the staff member in anticipation of treat time. Such antics!

I look forward to cat-ching up with the latest whispurrs of kitty gossip in The Cat in the Window Cafe on my next visit.

Cheers,

Cat Connoisseur Cynthia

We were due to visit the cafe in November.

When I booked the cafe I noticed a regulation around amount of guests and phoned them.

After communication it was advised that I do a private booking and pay extra. I told them as we were visiting from Abroad this was our only option and that I wished to go ahead and book a private session.

I waited for an email from them to read about the private booking. I chased it up by another phone call from abroad. I was then told that in the meantime they had now booked in another couple and we could no longer go ahead with a private booking.

We were told that we could ignore the numbers and just come along and they would make a note and not book any more visitors at that time. We were to come with 2 girls aged 8 and 4 girls aged 12. On first communication I was told that only children aged 8-12 was included in the ratio of adult to children. Then on our second communication I was told that due to our kids being 12 we now needed two more adults to attend for ration to add up.

I book in two more adults to come to the cafe with us.

At 5pm on the day before our visit to the cafe, we receive an email from the cafe. We are told that our party is too large and we either had to split our booking onto a variety of time slots but they were not able to accommodate us.

I had been nothing but open, accommodating and acting on their previous instructions. To be treated this way is absolutely shocking.

We never visited the cafe and will not book to try and visit again. We have a group of children who spent a weekend in Aberdeen and was really looking forward to this treat and they were all disappointed. What makes this worse is the amount of communication prior to the visit so this could have been avoided.
