The Nature Nurture Project

About The Nature Nurture Project

An early intervention programme for vulnerable children and young people that gives opportunities for nurturing interactions and free play in peaceful natural environments

The Nature Nurture Project Description

The Nature Nurture ® Project gives vulnerable children and young people the opportunity to play in peaceful natural environments where they are nurtured and supported by a specially trained team who are attuned to their needs and development. We work with children and young people from families affected by substance misuse, alcohol abuse, domestic violence or neglect and those who have experienced trauma and anxiety. Our approach promotes the sustainable development of resilience.

What's the difference between self control and self regulation?

Understanding ACEs and the impact of trauma on children is a powerful way to re-frame how we manage challenging behavior, but it can just as easily lead us to shifting our anger from the child to the parents/carers. When we understand that a child's behavior is pain-based our automatic response is often to look for someone to blame for their pain!
"Most parents are doing their absolute best with the challenges that they have... Being trauma informed and ACE educated supports... the view that we can be kinder generally... We can just acknowledge that for whatever reason, the person in front of us is struggling right now and we can either add to that or not."
