Music at Aberdeen is a thriving learning, performing and research community, with over 300 students. The Department has 12 members of academic staff with a wide range of research interests spanning performance, composition and musicology; we have over 30 visiting instrumental teachers who bring their practical expertise and experience to our programmes.

There are many opportunities for students to play as part of an ensemble at the University. Some of these are directed by academic staff, while others are run by students both in and outwith the department.

The Department of Music also runs a successful concert series during term time, bringing local, national and international musicians to a variety of venues around Aberdeen.
