Wjp Knits Description
I design knitting patterns and knitting kits Scottish produced yarns and I pride myself in knitting high quality pieces using on the best yarns available which are traceable, sustainable, ethical and organic.
My latest collections that I am working on for A /W 17 and S /S 18, are fashion forward and my design ideas are based on my time that I spent travelling between Paris and London.
I first learned how to hand knit some 40 years ago at the young age of only 5 years old. Knitting is a strong tradition both in Scotland and with my family.
In 1989, I was very lucky to have been given the opportunity to work for and train as a knitwear designer for Val Whyte where I specialized in fair isle machine knitting. Whilst I worked there, I was commissioned to knit a sweater for a member of the British royal family.
Flash forward to 2005 and I moved to London where I did various jobs in the fashion industry and media. In 2012 I took the plunge and started my own fashion label designing and making kimonos where I won a business award as well as having my work featured in various magazines and TV shows and was asked by ASOS to design a range of premium kimonos for them.
I'm now based on the rural Aberdeenshire coast which offers a wealth of creative inspiration.

Today was Doors Open Day so I visited Duff House Mausoleum where the 2nd Earl of Fife and his family are laid to rest.
