Earlier today we remembered. Like many other squadrons and units around the country, we remembered the centenary since the end of the Great War (WW1). We remembered servicemen/women from wars of past and present, we remembered all the civilians affected.
Our parade in Birstall was the first for many of our cadets and they all did amazingly well. A huge well done to our banner bearers and escorts, along with our wreath bearer. City of Leicester Royal Air Forces Association... Central & East Region Air Cadets #lestweforget

The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on June 28th 1914 is considered the start of the First World War. The car Franz and his wife were driving when executed by Gavrilo Princip raises a bizarre coincidence. The registration plate read ‘AIII 118’, which could be seen to read ‘Armistice 11.11.18’. The day the war ended.

A huge well done to all the cadets that attend the RAF100 Multi Faith event in Leicester on the 29th September. Hard work never goes unnoticed and shows what assets you are to your squadron. 2070 Glenfield Sqn ATC 1F (City of Leicester) Squadron ATC Hamilton Air Cadets - Public Central & East Region Air Cadets... Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of our cadets that helped today with the Leicester Marathon water stations around the city. The cadets are such an inspiration and truly live up to the RAF motto of ‘Per Ardua as Astra’. Today you all worked through adverse weather conditions in order to succeed but more importantly to help others succeed. As OC and Sgt we are extremely proud of all that attended including the parent helpers. Thank you

Today our cadets along with cadets from sister squadrons in Leicester, took part in the RAF100 Multi Faith event at Gurdwara Gur Panth Parkash. In attendance was the Chief of Air Staff. As part of his welcome, our cadets provided a guard of honour and he took the opportunity to speak to a few of them, including our own Junior Cadet Ward. Our cadets enjoyed a multi faith service and they also assisted at the Gurdwara showing full community cohesion and adhering to the Sikhs belief of ‘Sewa’ which means giving up your own time to provide a service to the community. As always the cadets conducted themselves in a truly professional manner. #flyinghigh Commandant Air Cadets Central & East Region Air Cadets 1F (City of Leicester) Squadron ATC2070 Glenfield Sqn ATCHamilton Air Cadets - Public RAF Wittering #rafengagement #diversityatitsbest

Today our cadets attend the Battle of Britain Memorial at St James the Greater Church, London road, along with other squadrons from Leicester. It was great to see some of our newer cadets attend too. Big thank you to our Banner Bearer, Cadet Flight Sergeant Utting and our readers Corporal Chouhan and Corporal Stead, you all did an amazing job. Thank you to the parents that ensured your cadets were there on time and collected thereafter.

What an amazing day. Not only were we assisting RAFA with the wings appeal today in Birstall. But our own Cadet McCaffrey took advantage of his recent prize win and took the skies with his free flying lessons courtesy of a RAFA YOUTH at Leicester Aeroclub He’s had an amazing experience and what a way to celebrate just shortly after your 13th Birthday.
