Acorn Farm Description

Acorn Farm offers a fun and educational day out for all the family in Kirkby, Liverpool.

There's lots to see and do at Acorn Farm! Meet and feed the animals, check out the 2 fun-filled play areas or take a stroll through the woodland walk. During weekends and Knowsley school holidays, horse rides and small animal petting sessions are available for a small extra charge (see below).
Our animals include sheep, cows, goats, pigs, horses and chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs and even meerkats! We’re a working farm, so we often have baby animals including lambs, goat kids, piglets and chicks to see too.

Other facilities include a cafe serving delicious home-cooked meals, farm shop selling souvenirs, refreshments and free-range home produce and a garden centre.

MARGIE IS RETIRING!
Acorn Farm are sorry to announce that our long serving shopkeeper Margie is going to retire at the beginning of April.
Margie (and her mum Joyce) are the 2 people who have been involved with Acorn Farm the longest. They were part of the initial steering group which set up the farm over 35 years ago.
... Margie is completing the circle. She started out as a volunteer at Acorn Farm seling badges and pencils from a table in the car park. We then created a tiny shop in one of the offices which she worked in on a voluntary basis. In 1995 the farm building went through a major renovation and the exisiting shop was created from what was formerly the garage where we parked our one and only vehicle - a milk float. She made such a success of the shop that she became a paid employee in 2003 and since then we have seen the farm grow beyond all of our expectations. Margie has been a familiar face to generations of children going into the shop to decide how to spend their pocket money.
However, the time has come where Margie would like to take life a little easier so she has decided to hang up her fob and retire from her job. However, no need to worry that she will disappear - she is planning to come back as a volunteer and will be a frequent visitor. This means that she wil have time at last to enjoy the farm as a place of relaxation - not work.
All of her colleagues would like to thank Margie for the huge contribution which she has made to the farm over the years and to wish her every happiness in the next phase of her life.

User

We have been coming to Acorn Farm for years, firstly with our daughters and now with our grandson! Had a lovely afternoon there yesterday, brilliant value for money, the staff are so friendly and warm and love getting up close with the animals! Our grandson is only 4 months but we have been itching to come and he loved it! Will be back again very soon, thanks for a wonderful afternoon! 😊

User

We had such a lovely day for my son's birthday. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble including the many emails it took (on my part) to book the party. They were also lovely with the children. I couldn't have asked anymore

User

We always love days out to acorn farm, but just recently had our daughters 4th Birthday here! It was a fab day, staff were great, room was lovely, and the children loved the petting and horse riding. All our guests commented what a lovely day it was, and some even booked their childs party on the day. Would definitely recommend for a day out and birthday party xx

User

Such an amazing farm, excellent price and staff are passionate and caring. always have a lovely experience coming here. all animals are well looked after and you just can't get a better experience for your money no where else!

User

Our first visit today and we had a great time. Everything about was just wonderful and enjoyable.

User

Me and my 5 year old son had a lovely time, it was educational for my son. He enjoyed "horse riding" and making "music" in the tranquil garden. We had definitely picked one of the best times to come (Spring) to meet all the new animals that had been born recently.

The staff were very informative and polite .

We will definitely come back.

User

Lovely place, we've been three times now I think. Each time has been brilliant! We've taken a picnic when it's been nice weather and there's loads of places to sit! We've eaten in the cafe when the weathers been a bit miserable and the food was great! Really cheap too considering what you can pay in other places. The entrance fee is amazingly low too, which is great when you're after somewhere to go but don't want to spend a fortune! Bags of animal feed are 50p each and my children loved feeding the animals. The animal petting sessions are great too, £1 per person is not a lot to ask! Lovely little farm, great value, I'll definitely be back again

User

Lovely little farm for a visit, very reasonable for the admission price. The food in the café was very nice and good portion sizes. There are some nice little walks and a lovely small animal petting area. With a playground, large outdoor seating area we had a lovely day out. The walks are not very long, but it is an urban farm and I understand that there simply may not be the space to make them longer. Will definitely be back.

User

Lovely lady called Margaret was very helpful in the shop, the park and sensory garden are great and the animals happy and well cared for. Thank you for creating this beautiful little place to bring our children xxx

User

Just come home after my daughter's 3rd Birthday. We have all had a fab day. Plenty for the kids to do. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Thanks so much xx

User

I visited yesterday with my friend Leah and her disabled son Oliver. We had a really lovely day and the staff were really lovely. The only drawback was the changing facilities for Oliver. He is four years old and is way to big to go on the baby change table provided. It would be really helpful if a better facility could be put in the accessible toilet as putting Oliver on the floor is not an option for Leah. Apart from that I have no issues and Oliver absolutely loved the animals and the sensory garden.

User

Had our daughters 3rd birthday party here today. The party room available to hire is great, coupled with the lovely staff we spoke to helped to make it a really fantastic day. Lots of fun to be had seeing all the animals and also everyone had fun at the small animal petting session we had booked. The kids loved the playground too. Brilliant day had by all!

User

Had a lovely day today, was worried incase my 9 year old was a little old for it but he had a great time with his 7yr old brother!! The place is clean, staff are friendly and it didn’t break the bank! We fed the animals and paid a tiny bit extra take part in one of the animal petting sessions which the boys really enjoyed! We had dinner in the cafe which was really nice then they had 20 mins on the outdoor playground before seeing more animals, a visit to the gift shop and then having a walk around the garden centre and buying some bedding plants to take home with us! All in all a fab afternoon, would defo recommend and visit again soon! Xxx

User

First visit to the farm today . Outstanding ! Lovely size for little ones to walk around . The animals are well looked after , areas clean and great play areas ! Lovely friendly staff . We will definitely be back !

Thank you !

User

Fab little urban farm for kids to visit. Friendly staff in all areas. Lovely little shop and cafe. The animals are well kept in a well spaced area but not too big, just right for little legs to wander about. Good play area too. Very reasonable prices for entry nd to purchase animal feed. Well worth a visit 😊

User

Been here many times with my grandsons also with mindees , yesterday it was a special day out as one of the mindees is leaving in a couple of weeks after 3 years with me to start school

User

Was a lovely day out and a good price for the size of the place. Only thing is it needed a covered area to eat as it was raining and you couldnt eat your own food in the cafe

User

Had a lovely day as always with my son. The baby changing table needed a good clean in the toilet, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Also one of the staff who does the horse riding blocked my car in so had to wait round for over an hour while I tried to find out who’s car it was, as she returned no apology given just “oh is that your car?” Would return again as it’s a good day out on a budget and kids enjoy it there.
