It's the start of Puffin nesting season over on Skomer Island where breeding pairs are joining up and creating burrows (and sometimes borrowing them from rabbits and Manx Shearwater) ready to raise their young. Each pair lays only one egg per season, which they then share the parental duties for. So after finally getting some time to go on a walk this weekend I managed to stumble across this beautiful male ring-neck pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). The male pheasant has such vibrant plumage to help attract a female.
