Today the babies and mini tots enjoyed a trip into Lowdham village where they explored the community and the park. They also enjoyed a yummy picnic tea on the park lawn.

We are very pleased to announce that today we have had a visit from Environmental Health and we have maintained our 5 star food hygiene rating! A huge well done to Jill our fantastic nursery cook who works so hard each and every day to provide 'outstanding' meals to the children in our care and keeps her kitchen looking superb.

This afternoon the preschool children have visited The Firs care home. The children made the elderly special pictures and a beautiful card. They also sang some nursery rhymes too. This visit really put a smile on the residents faces.

Today the babies have explored a new way of painting! The staff put dollops of paint on paper and then put film over the top. The babies were then able to squash, squeeze and move the paint around. This activity promoted physical skills, colour exploration, mark making and sensory play.

Just take a look at these happy smiley faces! The mini tots children have showed such lovely interaction with the babies this morning .

Today the children decided that they wanted to make a pirate treasure map. They worked together as a team and were able to use the different materials available to them to make their treasure map. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and were talking about the different places the boat could visit! After they had finished the children waited for it to dry, then took turns to use the boats they had to role play with.

Just to let you all know that tomorrow is Valentines parents breakfast morning at nursery. There will be tea, coffee, fresh fruit, oaty pots, breakfast bars and peppermint hearts for you to take away. We hope this gives you a great start to your busy days.

We are spreading the love at nursery this week , making lots of beautiful and individual Valentines creations. In the photos below the children are making 'Valentine love bug cards' and 'Valentines heart dreamcatchers'. Art work to treasure!

Today the babies have enjoyed exploring some Valentine's themed sensory bags. The brain growth that occurs through sensory play enhances children's senses, and their enhanced senses in turn make them better able to use those senses for learning. The babies have also used their feet in paint to make Valentine's cards for their parents and carers.

The mini tots have been practising using chop sticks as we have been learning all about the Chinese cuisine as part of our Chinese new year celebrations.

Today the babies, mini tots and toddlers have been creating their own Chinese lanterns for Chinese new year. They have been painting, sticking and learning how to fold to create these master pieces!

User

The children and staff love the Mama Baby Bliss classes at nursery. Fantastic for flexibility, relaxation and a little bit of calm within the nursery day.

More lovely Chinese New Year activities.... 'Cherry blossom paintings and mark making Chinese paper fans'.

This week at nursery we are learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year. In the baby room the children have been exploring Chinese noodles and have been making paper painted lanterns, In the mini tots and toddlers they have been tasting lychees and creating Chinese paper plate fans. In the preschool the children have also been making their own Chinese paper plate fans and the children have even had a go at writing their own Chinese symbols.

This week is National Story Telling Week.
The toddler children have shown a big interest in the story 'Under the sea'. The staff have been reading the story to the children. They then created an under the sea themed sensory tray to extend on the children's interests further. The children have been building their own stories with the sea life animals as well as retelling parts of the story from memory.
Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.

When we moved house my children (2&3) found it difficult but the one thing that was not difficult for them was starting alphabet house. They have always been so happy here from day one. They have had fun every day and I felt that the staff really cared about them which made me very happy for them to be here when they couldn't be with me. Both children were sad to leave but the preparation for school they received was excellent. I would not hesitate the recommend alphabet house.
