Our first step towards self sufficiency - Arthur's allotment! (It's going to be a long old job I think, still, lots of hard work done today - we can almost see the soil in places now!) We'll keep you posted on our progress.

From Arthur's to Arthur's! Pork jowl, blackberries, sage Blackberries picked from Grandad's garden for the compote and fresh blackberries picked this afternoon along the river from Milford by our house. Served with pressed pork jowl and crackling. Special this weekend whilst the berries are at their best.

Calling our artist friends! We have had a fabulous selection of original art displayed on our restaurant walls and this month will be no exception as Jayne Nemeth will be displaying her amazing monochrome lino prints ready for our sold-out Tasting Menu next Wednesday. However, we are calling again for artists who'd like to display their work (6 framed or canvas pieces) for a month each from September. No cost, no commission, just share our Facebook posts on your wall. We alw...ays swap over just before the Tasting Menus - which are very popular and have regular customers attending, who enjoy a first view at our changing artwork. If you have leaflets / business cards etc we are happy to give them out to potential customers. If nothing else it gives your work an audience for a few weeks but you never know, it may even lead to sales (remember to price!). Please send a message with an example of your work. Not every piece will look right in our venue but we've been thrilled with the art we've showcased so far and look forward to supporting other talented local artists' work in the future.

We too decided to try everything on the menu, accompanied by sparkling water so that we wouldn’t mask any of the wonderful flavours. Beautifully presented, mouthwatering dishes. Jacob’s Ladder probably the pick of the starters/mains - but you need to see just how exciting a tomato salad can be. Also, how on earth can you make pea soup exciting? It’s sensational! Two desserts on offer: a glorious goat’s cheese cheesecake and an astonishing Panna Cotta teaching star status with slices of apricot and a rich, thick chilled apricot coulis/sorbet. Can’t wait to go back and try an evening menu - or another lunch in the meantime. We were simply delighted and astonished. Oh yes, the welcome and service came with genuine smiles. Faultless 😊

We recently visited Arthur's Belper with family. Between us we had everything on the menu, tried everything and loved the experience. I can genuinely say I loved everything I ate and all the food was presented in such an amazing way. The staff were warm and welcoming and a fantastic night was had by us all. :)
