About Autism East Midlands
Autism East Midlands is a leading specialist autism charity and has been providing support to people affected by autism for over 50 years.
Autism East Midlands Description
Autism East Midlands offers a wide range of specialist services which are designed to support people affected by autism throughout their lives.
Our services include a specialist school for children with autism between the ages of 3 and 19 years, which is rated as “outstanding” by OFSTED. We offer services to families affected by autism and can provide support in the form of telephone advice, counselling, access to a play and leisure activity programme for children and young people and to training workshops for parents and professionals. We also provide a number of residential and day services for young people and adults, as well as supported living and outreach services.
Throughout the year we run an extensive programme of specialist training, including basic awareness courses covering autism and Asperger’s syndrome through to highly specialised courses on pathological demand avoidance, executive functioning deficit, sensory awareness and catatonia.
Our Elizabeth Newson Centre in Nottingham specialises in diagnosis and assessment of autism spectrum conditions and is one of only two autism-specific diagnostic and assessment centres in the country.

Gemma Ryan, wife to Chris from Spectrumfestival2018 shared their reason for sponsoring #Spectrum Festival on BBC Radio Derby. Their sons both have autism and they have experienced first hand how lack of understanding can ruin family days out. Not tomorrow though!
