Your journey to Harris:

•Ferry from Uig on Skye to Tarbert (about 1 hour 45 minutres then a 30 minutes drive ) or from Ullapool- mainland to Stornoway (about 2 hours 45 minutes then a 90 minutes drive )

• Fly to Stornoway from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness and travel by bus or taxi, or hire a car.

The Hebrides are known for their wildlife, great variety of birds plants /orchids, otters, seals, dolphins, porpoises and even whales. We had an otter in our garden twice! Last summer with many others we rescued a baby Minky Whale from Leverburgh Harbour, finally the calf swam into the Minch and found her mother.

Local seafood is fantastic, restaurants plenty, galleries to visit, at Lewis the Callanish Standing stones, older than Stone Henge, further a Black House Village, the museum to see the Viking chess men. Main attraction is the scenery unspoilt, wild, untamed, walks and clear skies full of glittering stars or if lucky see the Northern lights. Harris, you won't be disappointed and wish to come back again and again, like we did. . . . .
