Reminder for our children's Storytime this morning (11am), with free book giveaway!

'Pyjamarama' is our fun children's storytime next Wednesday morning. Everyone is welcome, especially if you are wearing pyjamas, dressing gowns, onesies or just bringing your favourite bedtime cuddly toy! This Book Trust event hopes to inspire a love of reading in young children, and we have lots of FREE books to give away. Let the magic of bedtime stories last all day long!

Does your child struggle to read? BBH library now has two new titles from the Barrington Stoke 4U2read collection which has been specially written to give extra support to dyslexic and reluctant readers. The books are printed on cream paper, which is proven to be more restful on the eye. The font is specially designed to encourage a smooth and easy read. There are frequent page breaks, short, headed chapters and illustrations on almost every page. These short novels fuse subtle reading support with real stories that offer a genuine sense of accomplishment. The resulting novels have transformed the lives of many previously book-shy youngsters.

Please note that BBH Library will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. However we are open Easter Saturday, and will be running a children's craft session. We will also have the Blue Bookcase full of children's books for sale at just 50p each!

A reminder that to celebrate National Poetry Day we will be holding a FREE poetry writing workshop for ages 8 and up together with a funny poem Storytime session for younger children TOMORROW, Saturday 23rd March 11am. Would love to see lots of children there!

Bracebridge Heath Community Library will be attending the Annual Parish Meeting, at 7pm tonight in the Village Hall. There will be displays from various village organisations, including ourselves. Please do come along to support us! And bring your library card too, we shall have a selection of popular books available to borrow. Refreshments are also available, courtesy of Bracebridge Heath Women's Institute.

Sir Philip Pullman's second instalment in his Book of Dust series, where he returns to the world of His Dark Materials, will be released this October. Heroine Lyra Silvertongue was a baby in the first book in the Book of Dust trilogy, La Belle Sauvage, which was critically acclaimed when it was released in 2017. The new book is set 20 years after that, and seven years after the end of the His Dark Materials series. The Secret Commonwealth tells the continuing story of the impact on Lyra's life of the search for, and the fear of, Dust.

New children's Storytime leaflets now available, with dates up to and including July. And a reminder that we have a Storytime session TODAY!
