From time to time we receive Trip Advisor reviews which are very welcome, They are accessible from a tab on the left of this page. Here is the latest which includes mentions for both our famous Chip Shop, the Upton Chippie, and our local pub the Rose and Crown.
An excellent stay.... Arrived in Upton to sample the wares of the Upton Chippy and had booked a night at Brampton Dales Farm. I travelled by motorcycle and found the farm at the end of a cinder track. I was met by the ...owner Hugh, who showed me to my very comfortable room. As a bonus, I was able to park my bike right outside my door. It turns out he is a motorcyclist and we had an interesting chat about bikes. Hugh even offered me the use of a cover for the bike! Top bloke. Proximity to the room made unloading an easy job.
Well, this is probably one of the most unique places I have ever stayed in. As the name suggests, this is a working farm and there a numerous chickens, a cockerel and a couple of amarous (!) turkeys wandering around and a couple of enormous cats. The farm is a reasonable 10 minute walk from the village and the what can only be described as "totally excellent" chip shop. I queued for about 45 minutes but it was worth it. Finished off with a couple of pints at the Rose and Crown and walked back to the farm in the gathering dusk. It was magical and so peaceful, as I walked along I could see the bats fluttering past, silhouetted against the darkening sky.
Slept really well in the comfortable bed and went to breakfast at about 9.30. What a spread - homemade bread, preserves, juice and oats if you wanted, and an enormous cooked Full English. Left about 1100 but - as Arne said - "I'll be back". In short, a brilliant stay and thank you to Hugh who could not do enough for you. Really, really, good.

‘The most perfect stay’

I don’t even know where to begin... this has been truly wonderful. There is not one fault I can say. From the moment me and my partner arrived, Hugh the owner was amazing, he took us on a tour to meet and greet all the animals, I was on cloud 9.

The section where we stayed felt like a mini home and I tried to keep the blinds and door open as much as possible so I could watch the Cockerels, Chickens and Turkeys going about their day.

In the mornings we were welcomed into their lovely home where Hugh would make a lovely cooked breakfast with fresh eggs.

My partner was welcomed with a beautiful and yummy homemade birthday cake, which I thought was such a nice homely touch.

After breakfast Hugh kindly gave me some toast to go feed to the highly amusing sheep, such characters, I could have stayed there without venturing out easily.

This is a fully functioning farm, so if you choose to stay in this wonderful place, please take note that the animals are there going passed your room, to me, that was perfect, and made it all that little more special.

Along our travels me and my partner have never felt the need to leave a card and gift, but with here it seemed the least we could do for their superb hospitality.

Thank you Hugh and we are already trying to arrange a date to come back.

Wonderful place to spend sometime. We spent a superb night there yesterday. Splendid breakfast this morning and even bought fresh eggs to take to friends. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay while visiting family for a couple of days. Loved the rooms, so spacious and homely, Hugh and Marion were great hosts, and Hugh's breakfasts were fantastic. We are from NZ and have recommended it to our family and friends. Will definitely stay here again if we are over this way.

Thank you for being so accommodating, friendly and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. Relaxing location, comfortable and clean room but the breakfast deserves a special mention with freshly baked hot bread, fresh eggs and homely feel. Would definitely recommend and certainly return. Really enjoyed the 3 weeks I spent at the farm, made me feel really welcome and loved the place.

The daily breakfast was fantastic and the room was immaculate and very welcoming.

Will be recommending the farm to all my friends and family to visit as it really is an enjoyable experience. Plus really recommend anyone visiting the airfield or Lincolnshire to visit the farm.

Brampton Dales Farm was one of our best finds! The room was a great size and had everything you could imagine including complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and crisps! Our hosts Hugh and Marion where exceptional, nothing was too much trouble...from organising us local taxi's to even ironing our clothes before we attended a christening! Shout out also goes to Hugh's breakfast! Home made bread and jams followed by a full English in a homely environment! Lastly, the farm was a fabulous experience and we loved the guided tour of the grounds! Our 2 year old loved chasing the chickens and dogs and stroking the sheep and horses! Thanks both for an amazing 3 night stay. We will be back! See you soon, Kay, Sean and little Henry! X
