Proposed dates 3-5 April, 2020 ----------------------------------------- -... The Event Finder whom I have used for the past few years, Redmeet, have been unable to source a hotel that is willing to accommodate the tournament without an advanced commitment to accommodation requirements being guaranteed.
Lately take-up of rooms for the Open has fluctuated and for 2019 it was down to a level the hotel cannot accept for 2020. The British Open is the UK’s longest running backgammon tournament and next year will be its 28th since it started in Lincoln in 1992. However; without your support and commitment it will not be taking place.
I am hoping to negotiate the contract myself but before I set about it it is very important that I have some firm figures to take to the negotiation table to back me up. To this end I need your support - without it the British Open will cease.
I need to know if you intend to enter and what accommodation you might want ... or not.

Via the NEWS button on the Biba web site: Obituaries - the sad passing of Cliff Connick, plus an Article by him in tribute to a dear friend and fellow backgammon player.

Early this morning backgammon lost one of the nicest players it's been my pleasure to call a friend.
Just two months after his 99th birthday Cliff Connick passed away.
Funeral arrangements will be posted here when available and shortly I shall publish an obituary on the Biba web site.
