YEAR 10 SAM COLLINS – INTERNATIONAL CALL UP FOR U16 MEN’S WALES SQUAD!
Brookvale Groby’s Year 10 student Sam Collins, has played football for Nottingham Forest academy since the age of seven. He is very proud to have received an international call up for the Under 16 Men’s Wales Squad for a tournament in Bulgaria this week, where the team will be playing Bulgaria, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg.

This morning we held our 'Year 13 Leavers Assembly', celebrating students' hard work and continued dedication to their subjects.

EASTER ‘THANK YOU’ CARDS All Tutors were given 3 Easter ‘Thank You’ cards to give to their tutees who wanted to write a special thank you to a member of staff. Teaching and Support staff have really appreciated the kind messages from our students.

On Friday 5th April, the Year 9 and Year 10 boys football teams were both crowned Team Leicestershire County Champions at Harborough Town FC.

On Tuesday 2nd April, 2 of our Year 7 students took part in a Student Council meeting along with other pupils from local Primary Schools. The children will be working towards an Active Citizenship Award for their individual school, and the aim of the meeting was to think of an issue which affects the local community and to come up with an action plan to try to make an improvement. A further meeting will be held in June, when the children will expand on their ideas and work. Well done to all involved!

We wanted to share the good news, that on Thursday 28th March, all of our Arts Award students passed their Arts Award with flying colours; 24 Bronze Awards, 6 Silver Awards and 1 Gold Award! The Moderator said we had some 'exceptional portfolios'.
Certificates will be issued in the next couple of weeks.
Well done to all students!

Year 7 student Joe Matthews has also qualified over the weekend to represent the East Midlands in the London Mini Marathon, which takes place before the main London marathon on 28th April. Good luck Joe! #BGLC_PE

On Friday 29th March, a large number of Year 7 students had the pleasure of having an award winning author come into school to deliver a creative writing workshop. All pupils were fully engaged throughout the sessions and used the allocated time towards the end of the session to engage with Mr Rai further.

SPELLING BEE
On Wednesday 27th March Katie Lane, Isabelle Parker and Kerina Sidhu represented the campus in the Regional competition of the Foreign Language Spelling Bee which was held at Stamford School.
Katie, Isabelle and Kerina were amongst the final 45 Year 7s who took part out of nearly 4,000 pupils who started the competition in the East Midlands. The competitors had a list of 150 words to learn and they had to translate then spell as many words as possible using the F...rench alphabet in just one minute. This was not an easy task but they made it look easy!

On Wednesday 27th March, 14 girls from Year 9 attended a Girls into STEAM day at Leicester College. The day was designed to inspire girls to consider a further career (or education) in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) related subject. Split across 3 different areas (Construction, Accounting and Motor Vehicles) the girls enjoyed some hands on experience and practical skills that they may not have previously considered.

U15 Girls Futsal Team Our U15 County Cup and Regional winning team travelled to Birmingham yesterday, to take second place in the semi-finals of the national cup, losing out by just one point, having won two games convincingly, and narrowly missing out on a win to be the eventual winners. The girls conducted themselves superbly and demonstrated skills and abilities beyond their age group.
It is the third year this team has won the County Cup in their three years of being a...t Brookvale Groby, and the second time they have achieved the Regional title, a truly awesome achievement. All at Brookvale Groby are very proud of you all!
