About Cakery Bay

Cakery Bay is the destination for bespoke wedding cakes and celebration cakes for all occasions made by award-winning cake baker & designer Louisa Nycz. Based in Brixworth, Northampton, Northamptonshire.

Cakery Bay Description

Your cake will be thoughtfully designed to meet your needs, baked in a choice of delicious flavours then decorated with the highest attention to detail. You will receive a friendly, dedicated service from cake concept through to collection. Wedding cakes are normally delivered and set up at your venue by Cakery Bay giving you one less thing to worry about on your big day.

Prices are as bespoke as the cakes themselves and depend on size, flavour and the level of decoration. As a guide a classic sponge celebration cake costs from Β£60. Handmade sugar flowers and sugar figures are at additional cost.

Only quality ingredients and materials are used including free range eggs, real butter in the buttercream fillings, the finest conserves and professional sugarpaste for a nicer taste and finish.

Gluten free, dairy free and egg free cakes are available although please note that whilst the upmost care is taken, cakes are made in a kitchen with equipment that handles these allergens.

Please contact Cakery Bay by email louisa@cakerybay. co. uk or phone 01604 880637 / 07519 746083 to discuss requirements, to obtain a personalised quote or to arrange a wedding consultation.

Cakery Bay is based in the village of Brixworth, Northamptonshire - in close proximity to the many stunning wedding venues in the Northamptonshire and Leicestershire countryside.

It's Fri-yay! πŸŽ‰ Hope you've all managed to get through another lockdown week ok whatever situation you're in? Have a great weekend and stay bright. Remember, when it rains looks for rainbows... 🌈

Hope everyone's doing ok? I am still receiving cake enquiries, so just to update...
Whilst I am greatly missing supplying cakes I am currently not doing so under current government restrictions. Shopping for ingredients/materials and delivering/collecting cakes, even with social distancing measures in place, does not fall into one of the 4 essential reasons to leave your house.
Thank you for your support and understanding 😊 Keeping everything crossed that the country will be in a position to relax restrictions in the coming weeks🀞Still happy to discuss and book in cakes for later in the year and 2021 which is booking up fast! #stayhomesavelives

Last April I made this pretty christening cake with seasonal sugar primroses for baby 'Primrose'... just love the cute little handmade sugar shoes.

Reminiscing... Happy 10th Anniversary to the lovely Sarah & Matt πŸ’• Their wedding cake was one of the very first I made, with handmade sugar flowers interwoven with Swarovski pearls and teal ribbon to match their colour scheme. I made keepsake toppers of them getting wed, and can you spot their pet cat? Rare action shot of me setting up too (the mugs weren't for a quick cuppa - they were used to transport the sugar bride & groom safely all the way to Norfolk!)

Do you agree it seems so much easier to hear the birds and notice the spring flowers right now? It could be due to less traffic, or maybe we just have more time to appreciate nature that's so often taken for granted. Close-up of the little bunch of daffodils and delicate butterflies from birthday cake posted previously 🌼

Happy birthday to me! πŸŽ‚ How lucky am I... my son just made me a choc orange brownie cake that he saw Phil Vickery make on This Morning & decorated it with a 'hydro-dip' effect πŸ˜„
Hope you're all having a lovely Easter weekend so far - we've certainly been blessed with sunshine today β˜€οΈ
Now where's the spoon?!

The last cake collected 'pre-lockdown' was for a special springtime birthday. Classic sponge inside, decorated with a bunch of delicate sugar daffodils 🌼

With all the Corona commotion I nearly missed posting a couple of milestone celebration cakes. This one was a giant exploding present using the recipient's favourite colour - orange - and with his interests/hobbies represented in sugarcraft form on each corner of the board. He was thrilled with it!

User

Brilliant advice here if you're having to delay your wedding from the lovely Hannah of Complete Rose Events. If you have any questions or concerns about postponing your wedding do get in touch with her. Especially love tip no.10 - take a step back and enjoy this time for some togetherness ❀

Enjoying the time for more family baking πŸͺ Today's teatime treats are my take on 'Fat Rascals' made famous by Bettys tearoom.
A cross between a scone and a rock bun - I found a recipe from Lavender and Lovage (check out Karen's gorgeous foodie blog) which I tweaked and divided to make half regular (no iconic cherries & almonds on top - they'd be wasted on the kids!) and half chocolate orange. There were 12 in total 5 mins ago πŸ˜‹

Disappointingly unable (due to government Covid-19 restrictions) to make a cake this week for one of my regular's birthdays. Last year was a fun 'favourite things' cake with a girlie sugar paint palette amongst other things (remember the flamingo?) Happy 'unusual' birthday! πŸŽ‚

How is everyone doing? This new social distancing life's still feeling a bit upside down (it takes me a week to adjust to the clock's moving in 'normal' times so feel like it's been a double-whammy!) but happy I've today been able to accommodate another bride & groom who are sadly having to postpone their wedding due to the current situation.
Here's a re-post of a wedding cake design I created this time last year: 'Rustic Birch' with spray of delicate handmade sugar flowers, pine cones and pussy willow...perfect for a woodland/rustic/winter/spring wedding. If you'd like to enquire about 2021 wedding cakes please email me louisa@cakerybay.co.uk and I'll be happy to discuss :D

We joined the 'Clap For Our Carers' round of applause from our windows last night - so moving to hear it ripple all across the village. Time to appreciate more than ever that our frontline workers are keeping the country going ❀️

Cake collections or deliveries involve non-essential travel, going against government instruction, so thank you for understanding a temporary 'shut down' is the right thing to do :).
Having contacted everyone with an April cake booking I'm so pleased that my wedding couples can reschedule their big day and other celebrations being postponed for more settled times. I am still available for cake enquiries / quotes for later in the year and 2021 weddings. Email louisa@cakerybay....co.uk
I want to use my page for now to bring some positivity to your newsfeed and as life is feeling pretty topsy turvy right now, this fun 'wonky' wedding cake made for Scott & Caroline at Sedgebrook Hall back in 2015 seems perfect to re-share!

*** TEMPORARY CLOSURE ***
Following this evening's government announcement and instruction to the British public, I am immediately but temporarily closing Cakery Bay as sadly it is a non-essential service.
I will continue to contact clients with bookings over the coming weeks to discuss postponing or cancelling. I look forward to making your special cakes in more settled times.
... Thank you for your support.
Stay well ❀ Louisa

Hope everyone's managed a nice day, whether or not partaking in mother's day. My daughter made me a yummy chocolate cake almost all by herself - 'American Chocolate Cake' recipe which she chose from my Mary Berry the cook Fast Cakes book πŸ˜‹ (Perfect recipe if you're struggling to buy eggs as it has none!)
