Action on Hearing Loss have published an important review into the shortcomings in the way audiology services are commissioned, with very few areas having proper information on which to base their decisions and with only about 19% of people with hearing loss accessing NHS services.
Audiology services in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are currently under review so now is the time for make sure the decisions made are based on proper data and research. http://www.actiononhearingloss.org.uk/val uing-audiology

There's a hearing advice and information workshop coming up in St Ives on 31st May. We're working with our partners Neighbourhood Cares St Ives. It's at the Library at 10 am so please come along and learn more about the complex nature of hearing and how to get the best out of your ears. They are worth it!

It's Deaf Awareness Week! Tomorrow we'll be at the reception area at Hinchingbrooke Hospital with lots of information about how to meet the challenges of hearing loss and deafness. We'll be with Cambridgeshire Deaf Association Action on Hearing Loss and Cambridgeshire County Council.
First steps - hearing protection - so get ear plugs and don't listen to music too long and too loud. That buzzing sound that lasts is not a good sign.

Important for everyone.

Deaf Awareness Week coming up. Hearing Loss affects over 10 million people in the UK and it's estimated that by 2031 it will be 14.5 million, or 20% of the population. There's a lot of help out there, but approximately 40% of people with the condition never get any support. Take the time this week to talk to about how we can all improve hearing and listening. The Living Well project at Cambridgeshire Hearing Help offer more information either via the online course or a workshop at www.cambridgeshirehearinghelp.org.uk/livi ng-well

Deaf Awareness Week coming up. Find Cambridgeshire Hearing Help at a stall by the main entrance at Hinchinbrooke Hospital from 8-10 May 2019 with Action on Hearing Loss, Cambridgeshire Deaf Association and Cambridgeshire County Council Sensory Team. We are also at Ely Markets on 9 May.
Please come and visit us to support our work, find out more about how you can raise awareness of the isolation and lonliness that hearing loss and deafness can bring, and how simple actions can help everyone to hear better.

Only 40% of people who could get help with hearing actually seek that support. Hearing better is life enhancing and a wonderful boost to mood. Spring is the time to find out more. Our next hearing workshop is on 11 April at 10.30 at Huntingdon Library. www.cambridgeshirehearinghelp.org.uk/livi ng-well
