Today we have had fun with junk modelling. we keep cardboard boxes, bubble wrap and other interesting and textured materials and invite the children to do things their way. Some of our group enjoyed the sensory aspect of the bubble wrap while others chose to paint the boxes, either way they had fun. Job done.

We made up some bread dough and added food colouring , our children used rolling pins and cutters and their hands to shape the dough. We have also done mark making using coloured chalks on our black vinil sheet.

Today we have enjoyed painting using brushes or in the case of our younger friends we put the paint directly onto their tray so they can feel and mix the paint using their fingers, we then take a print of their marks as it is very often very nice artwork. Also we have had dry spaghetti and other cereal in our messy tray. The children collected the cereal in small containers and our older friends enjoyed threading the hoop cereal on the spaghetti. Both of these being great activities for developing fine motor skills.

Today we have played parachute games. We put a soft toy in the middle of the parachute and made it go high, the children liked going under the parachute when it went up.

Here we are at the end of another busy week. We have been fortunate with the weather so we were able to spent quite a bit of time outdoors. We would like to wish our families a very good weekend.

Today in babies we have played in the water, we put in a selection of our herbs from our garden to add a sensory twist . The children enjoyed filling up small containers and pouring them out. Also here are some photos of our older children having lots of fun in toddlers garden on their transitional visit.

We feel that it is so important to give children the power to choose. We provided a messy activity using dry pasta , cereal and rice indoors and our bikes , see saw and other play equipment outside. our children moved between the two .

Today we have been busy. We started outside this morning and one of the children asked for a bag so we got our dressing up clothes out for the children to choose from. We love this kind of play as it was inspired by the children themselves. Later we enjoyed some jelly play in our messy area our children love the texture of this activity and like to taste it too.

Its been a lovely day and we enjoyed time with our group in our outdoor area. today we had our bikes and cars out to play with but we are looking forward to messy play, story time and other activities in the open air.

After the winter months its time to clean our outdoor play area ready to bring out the cars and climbing frame, so we gave the children the opportunity to join in and help clean. they used watering cans to wet the floor and cloths to clean the walls. We are looking forward to using our outdoor area on the warmer days but do feel that it could do with brightening up so if any of our families have any spare or unwanted plants we would be grateful to give them a good home.

The Toddler room frogs have made a leap to freedom! 🐸Over the last few weeks, our toddlers have been involved in exploring the life cycle of frogs through raising our own tadpoles. The children have watched them develop from frogspawn, to tadpoles, to froglets and now they have outgrown their tank! We took the children to release them and offered them opportunities to handle them before letting them swim off into the big, wide world.
