About Carlisle Eden Mind

Carlisle Eden Mind is your local mental health charity

Our Mission - To provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. To campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Carlisle Eden Mind Description

Carlisle Eden Mind is a local charity, affiliated to Mind, supporting people with mental health problems across the Carlisle and Eden Districts.

We provide a range of services including advocacy, crisis support, return to work, supported volunteering and others.

We offer telephone and text based mental health information, guidance and support to over 2, 500 people a year across the county through MindLine Cumbria

We have increasingly worked with young people and school aged children through development of specialist advocacy services and most recently through delivery of mental health awareness training and peer support programmes across secondary schools in the Carlisle and Barrow areas.

We are the county's main provider of mental health related training, delivering accredited and bespoke training to a wide variety of third sector, public and private customers, including a range of local employers on development of workplace wellbeing and management of mental health in the workplace. In the last 5 years we have trained over 5, 000 individuals from across 150 different organisations.

We also lead on the county's suicide prevention programme, training over 4, 000 people across Cumbria in suicide alertness and intervention skills.

Thankyou to Carlisle Crown Court, who held a Easter Bunny decorating competition and cake sale yesterday with proceeds being donated to us here at Carlisle Eden Mind.
Reverend Teasdale kindly came along to judge all the amazing entries in the Bunny competition, a tough job as they all look fabulous. We even had a chance to decorate our own bunny as the staff had set up a bunny decorating station in the office to make sure everyone had a chance to be involved.
The cakes on ...sale looked amazing and we left some information with the staff about our services, with a hope we can reach more people that may need some support.
Thankyou again to all who organised, took part and judged. Support from organisations, businesses and individuals helps us to ensure we can continue delivering vital mental health services across our community.
If you’d like to fundraise for us or would like any information about our services for yourself, workplace or organisation please email: enquires@cemind.org

Would you know how to support someone that may be struggling with their mental health? You could probably stick a plaster on someone’s cut, but when it comes to mental health a lot of us struggle to know how or what to do that will support that person who may be struggling.
As a society we are regularly trained in First Aid, risk assessments, health and safety but how often are we trained in Mental Health First Aid?
... We want to see Mental Health First Aid implemented into our lives just as much as standard First Aid is. Giving people the tools and confidence to support people when they need it most.

Our staff walks are becoming a lovely monthly way for us all to connect. Even making new friends along the way like Ziggy and Amber in the pic. Taking the time each month to start the day with a stroll together round the park, is proving to be a really good way to get colleagues together for an informal chat, catch up about projects and just generally check in with each other. Setting time aside in the workplace for staff to connect in an informal way can help productivit...y, give a chance to staff who work remotely connect with each other and also start conversations about their wellbeing they may not have had in more formal settings.

Thanks to everyone from Lifestyle Fitness Carlisle who took part in the three hour long bodycombatathon on 30th March. These lovely bunch were well and truly exhausted after the massive training session but what a result, on their last count they had made over £1300 in donations for us here at Carlisle Eden Mind The funds being raised by our supporters such as lifestyle fitness, go towards providing services in our local community. Thanks so much to all the members who too...k part, awesome effort! 🙌🏻👍🏻 (apparently the cake helped everyone get through it 👍🏻)
