🐱 CAT OWNERS - PLEASE READ 🐱
The British Veterinary Association has clarified its position in light of a report on the BBC news website relating to cats and coronavirus. The headline of the article suggested that veterinary advice was to keep all cats indoors, but BVA has explained this advice is only in relation to cats in infected households or where people are self-isolating.
BVA President Daniella Dos Santos said:... “It’s incredibly important that information and advice for the public is clear and we regret that this news story will have caused worry and upset amongst cat owners.
“We are not advising that all cats are kept indoors. Only cats from infected households or where their owners are self-isolating, and only if the cat is happy to be kept indoors. Some cats cannot stay indoors due to stress-related medical reasons.

‼️ PLEASE READ ‼️
To ensure the health and well being of both our staff and clients, we are making some changes to the day-to-day running of the practice.
• All routine appointments such as booster vaccinations, flea and worming consultations and neutering procedures will be postponed for at least the next couple of weeks. We will be contacting all clients with booked appointments over the next couple of days to rearrange these. If you have any issues please call the practic...e on 01228 547956 • We ask that any clients visiting the practice come individually to minimise the number of people coming in and out of the practice • Please make use of the hand sanitisers available in reception before and after entering the consult room • If you are showing any symptoms of Coronavirus such as a high temperature or persistent cough, please DO NOT VISIT the practice! Medication and food can be collected by friends and family on your behalf. Please let us know if you have any problems • We will be disinfecting surfaces between clients, with a twice daily deep clean as standard • Puppy parties will also be postponed • Remember we still need 24 hours notice for prescription requests
We are doing all we can to minimise the risk to everyone visiting the practice. We apologise for any inconvenience that these changes may cause. We hope you can appreciate the difficulty of the situation and work with us to protect each other. Thank you for your patience and understanding. 🐾

⚠️ CORONAVIRUS WARNING ⚠️
The current outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is causing uncertainty and concern. We are currently open as normal with a full team of staff, to ensure this continues and to limit the risk of exposure to our clients we respectfully ask that anyone showing signs of Coronavirus does not visit the practice. If your pet is unwell or injured, a friend can bring them in on your behalf. Routine appointments such as booster vaccinations can be delayed. Pleas...e contact the practice if you have any concerns and always let us know if you are unable to make an appointment.
The most effective way for members of the public to protect themselves is through regular hand washing, and further information can be found on the World Health Organisation Website - https://www.who.int/…/novel-coronavirus -2…/advice-for-public
Hand sanitiser is available in reception and hand washing facilities in each consult room, we encourage you to use these.
Many people have asked about whether or not our pets can contract the virus. There is currently no scientific evidence that pets can be infected with or spread COVID-19. Further information can be found in the latest information piece from the World Small Animal Veterinary Association - https://wsava.org/…/the-new-coronavirus -and-companion-anim…/

👩‍⚕️💉🐾 TITRE TESTING 🐾💉👩‍⚕️
Did you know we offer DHP titre testing with VacciCheck?
VacciCheck is a titre test that measures the antibody levels in the blood and determines the protective immunity. The test helps reduce vaccination failure, prevents over-vaccination consequences and helps owners and vets to make informed vaccination decisions.

SICKNESS WARNING
We are seeing lots of dogs with excessive vomiting and diarrhoea this week. Stomach upsets don’t always require a trip to the vet but if you are concerned, please call us at the practice on 01228 547956.
Reasons to book an appointment:... - Increased frequency of vomiting - Diarrhoea, very watery or containing blood - Loss of appetite - Quiet and lethargic, not their usual excitable selves
How to treat your dog at home: - Feed bland food – something like boiled chicken and rice, little and often. You can also get special gastrointestinal sensitive food (wet and dry) from ourselves. - Encourage water intake, again little and often. - Probiotics – you can collect a special probiotic paste for us that helps to encourage good bacteria in the gut. - Avoid areas where lots of dogs visit to limit the risk of your dog catching or spreading this sickness bug. - Always clean up after your dog. - Keep toys, food and water bowls clean. - If you are not seeing any improvement after 3-4 days, call the practice.
