Chine House Veterinary Hospital Description

Chine House is a large, mixed practice in Sileby, Leicestershire which was established in 1952. We are proud to be accredited by the RCVS as a Small Animal Hospital and an Equine Hospital. Hospital status is the highest possible level of accreditation.

Equine Hospital

Chine House Equine Hospital is the largest equine practice in the East Midlands. It is staffed by 11 equine veterinary surgeons including 1 holder of the RCVS certificate in equine surgery (soft tissue), 2 holders of the RCVS certificate of equine practice and 1 holder of both the RCVS certificate of equine practice and the RCVS certificate of Equine Medicine (Stud Medicine), 3 fully qualified veterinary nurses and 4 auxiliary nurses.

The equine hospital was developed in the late 1990's to include a purpose built equine operating theatre, padded anaesthetic induction and recovery boxes, and a large examination room.

The hospital was further expanded to include purpose built isolation facilities, extra stabling (bringing the total number to 19) and indoor stocks for standing surgical and medical procedures. We also have paddock area for inpatient use.

Small Animal Hospital

The small animal veterinary surgeons, Con Hassett, David Blow, Craig Hunt, Martin Rudkin, Alison Pagett and Rosie Thorpe have over 75 years of small animal veterinary experience between them and are supported by a team of eight fully qualified veterinary nurses and four trainee veterinary nurses.
The small animal department was refurbished in 2002 and has 2 waiting rooms, 4 consulting rooms, a large prep area, 3 operating theatres and a wide range of species specific hospitalisation areas.
The vets have a wide range of surgical and medical interests, and can use the latest equipment to diagnose problems and treat your pet.

This black cat appeared at Swithland Spring Water a week or two ago. He/she is not very tame but very hungry. They have have not been able to get close enough to check whether it is a male or female or whether it is microchipped. Please contact Swithland Spring Water if you know who it might belong to. Thank you. Thank you.

3067 meters climbed – and 3067 meters descended which is tough going on the knees! 1071 miles driven by 3 dedicated drivers 124 litres of water drunk (kindly donated by Swithland Water https://www.swithlandspringwater.co.uk/) 27 Climbers with the age range between 11 and 53, this weekend successfully completed the National 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the Matt Hampson Foundation and The Cinnamon Trust. We left Chine House on Friday afternoon for the long journey to Fo...rt William. Absolutely stunning scenery on the way up and watching the sun set over the Scottish mountains. After our very late evening meal it was off to bed and then up again for 6am breakfast. A short drive to the base of Ben Nevis and our climbers were ready for the off at 7am. As the first climbers arrived back at base, we became aware of an injury to one of our team, Jess had fallen badly and injured her ankle and was unable to walk. It was touch and go if we were going to call Mountain Rescue – Martin ran down to the Mini Buses for the first aid kit and ran back to Jess with bandages and strapped her ankle. The decision was made to get the remaining climbers into 2 of the buses and head towards Scafell Pike. One bus remained and Martin and David got Jess down to the bus and then headed off to try and catch up – unfortunately they were just too far behind to make Scafell so headed to our next scheduled stop to meet up with the team before heading to Snowdon. Although we were a little behind schedule due to traffic and limited speed on the mini buses the challenge was completed when the team arrived in Llanberis after climbing Snowdon. A very tired lot then made our way home to Chine House where we received a hero’s welcome from family and friends, and special thanks to Annie and Leo Manger for their fantastic welcome home posters. The last photos are of our team and what they did when they got home (after showering!) – as you can see most of us missed our furry friends and a decent meal, oh and perhaps the odd glass of wine! Jess had in fact broken her ankle and is now wearing a very dashing moon boot! Chine House would like to thank all our supporters who have helped us smash our £3000 target! With the cash donations still coming in we’re hoping to reach £6000 which is absolutely phenomenal! https://www.justgiving.com/cro…/chineho useveterinaryhospital

Update. Drivers are at base camp of snowdon waiting for team Chine to finish the challenge. Unfortunately one of the team had a bad fall on Ben Nevis and suspected torn ligaments in her ankle. Ouch! Jess was about a mile from reaching the bottom of Ben Nevis. It was touch and go if we were going to call mountain rescue to get her down. Not all heroes wear capes... Martin ran down picked up some bandages and ran back up to strap Jess’s ankle then helped her down the mountain. Everyone is good if not a little tired. Thank you again for your kind donations we’ve smashed it.
