We had a lovely service in the Brick Room today. Sunday club had fun too though we had to be as quiet as (church!) mice as we were right next to the main service. Still, we managed to learn about the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11) and what happened when they tried to build a tower to the heavens for their own glory. We tried building our own towers using sticks and sweets ... But it wasn't clear if a) the towers didn't stand up well because the sweets were being eaten, or b) the sweets were being eaten because the towers wouldn't stand up! We wish our visitor for the last few weeks a good trip back to NZ.

Just a quick reminder that we're in the Brick Room this morning and next week; please do let others know too.

Please note: Our Sunday services for the next two weeks (14th and 21st July) will be held in the Brick Room due to essential work being carried out on the church roof. Please do join us at the Brick Room at 11am.

We were in the Garden of Eden this morning, joined by Max for the story of Adam, Eve and that sneaky snake. After the reading all about it, we recognised and wrote down all the things that tempt us away from doing what is pleasing to God, and then linked the papers to form our snake. After showing the congregation, we crushed him enthusiastically!

Do come and join us on 27th July for our fund-raising garden party!

During our last two Sunday Club sessions, we have been learning about how God created the world. We created paper plate worlds to show how He carefully sequenced His creation (first of all spending three days separating light/dark, sea and sky, sea and land then three days filling these) and we enjoyed showing these to the congregation in the service today. Great artwork, boys!

This morning at Sunday Club, we made chatterboxes which reminded us about the stories we've been hearing about over the last few months and which also help us pray. First, choose one of Jesus' miracles from the outside, then choose a Bible character from the inside (repeat step 2 as many times as you like), then open it up to find something/someone to give thanks for in prayer.

Our thanks go to Kath for a lovely service this morning and to all who helped decorate the church so beautifully. Our visiting children enjoyed making card crosses with pictures on to retell the Easter story; these then folded into Easter boxes to collect their eggs in. Here's hoping that all the chocolate eggs hidden in the church grounds were found before they melted!

A big thank you to everyone who came to take part in or listen to Robert's "The Crown of Thorns" tonight. It was a great success and was a moving way to start Holy Week. Our next event; Friday's "Cross of Christ" at 7pm, all are most welcome to join us for this Good Friday Easter meditation of music and readings.

Reminder: Robert's Easter Cantata "The Crown of Thorns" is being performed in church tomorrow (Sunday) night at 6pm. Do come and start Holy Week with this new and powerful work.

Earlier this year, we were contacted by the Commonwealth Graves War Commission and invited to apply for a sign indicating that there are three war graves in the churchyard at Christ Church. At a meeting of the PCC in January, it was agreed that the application should be made and we are delighted that the sign has recently been fixed to the notice board near the church gates. Details of the graves can be found on the CWGC website - https://www.cwgc.org/find-nearby-cemeteri es or contact Annette on 01283 536710.
