CLIFF TOP TEN// 10. God God God God God!
The words of Deborah Heather Dean seem approbate to finish on “God God God God God! I got home yesterday from my first time at Cliff. God will meet you at Reception, at the table when you share food, in your room, on the stairs, in the beautiful Chapel, in the lecture rooms, in EVERY face you look into - staff and delegates alike......on the 1:50 gradient hills you climb 4 times a day (no really, they feel vertical the first few times!) in the woods, the orchard, the labrynth.......the place is soaked with Our Gracious God and you will not come away the same!”

MADE FOR MONDAYS//
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”- John 8:31-32
Are you lost?
... When you are stuck, directions can help you—but only if you follow them. Jesus told His followers that they were truly His disciples if they continued to obey His instructions (John 8:31–32). If they did, they would know the truth, and it would set them free. Following Jesus and His directions, which are found in the Bible, brings freedom. This was true for those who believed in Jesus when He was on earth, and it’s also true for us today. We need to obey Jesus and His instructions.

It was great to welcome Deacon David Hunt as the College Chaplain last night. This is an exciting appointment as David will share his time between the College and the local Peak Methodist Circuit. In welcoming David we shared food and worship with the College community, friends from the Peak Circuit and further afield. It was good to be joined by Revd Gill Newton, Chair of the Sheffield Circuit, who preached at our Celebration. Please pray for David as he settles into his new role.

The summer edition of the Connexion Magazine focuses on 'vocation' and includes a number of articles that have links to Cliff College: an article on lay vocation by Paul Taylor, our Operations Director; a piece on pioneer ministry by Bart Woodhouse, that has its foundations in three years at Cliff College; a reflection on vocation for women from Loriane Mellor, a member of the Cliff College Committee. It's well worth a read and gives us an opportunity to ask you how Cliff has impacted on your vocation? https://www.methodist.org.uk/…/the-conn exion-magazine-issue…

MADE FOR MONDAYS//
“Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
In the early 1970s, based on the popular comic strip Peanuts, the first “Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” aired on prime-time television. Peppermint Patty, upon sitting down at the Thanksgiving table, made the honourable suggestion to say grace before they began eating. But her reason for praying was because, "It’s Thanksgiving, you know."
... Peppermint Patty initiated the call to prayer out of perceived obligation, but it was her actions which proved she only had head-knowledge of true thankfulness, not heart-knowledge. As soon as Linus said Amen, she looked around the table and details began to distract her from thankfulness for the gifts they’d been given.
Lets not let the details of our day; the to do list, the running around, the busyness, the kids, the work, distract us from being thankful for the amazing things that God has given us.
