Conkers Camping and Caravanning Club Site

Conkers Camping And Caravanning Club Site Description

amp in the heart of the National Forest with walking and cycling from site.

The National Forest covers 200 squares miles, embracing some of Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. It’s a place to enjoy a variety of activities from forest walks and gentle cycling to horse riding and fishing. It also encompasses numerous attractions from Calke Abbey, the National Brewery Centre, National Memorial Arboretum and right at its heart, Conkers visitor centre offering a Discovery Centre, sculpture trail and an assault course for teenagers. It’s next door to this award-winning attraction that you’ll find our popular Conkers Club campsite.

This well thought out campsite has hardstanding pitches off a large roundabout and plenty of grass pitches for tent campers. The all year round site offers full facilities and has a separate ball game area and an overnight car park. There is an on-site dog walk and plenty of walking and cycling opportunities direct from the campsite including the Ashby World Heritage Trail – a three and a half mile route following the old Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway.

We stayed for the weekend just gone and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Site is lovely and the staff even lovelier!! Would highly recommend the site to everyone and we will certainly be going back (especially as it is 10 miles down the road from home lol!!!). Thanks for having us xx

User

We had a fabulous weekend here. Russell and Gillian were extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty of space and the showers and toilets were clean and well maintained. The YHA next door serves good, basic food (including breakfast if you book the night before) and the fish and chip van comes round at Saturday tea time (freshly cooked and gorgeous). A short walk through the woods to Conkers, which was great fun. We were very impressed and would definitely recommend.

This is a great site in the heart of the National Forest. It has plenty of space around the pitches and children will love cycling or scooting around the site.

For anyone who has not been to the area I would say you are missing out. Conkers has everything for families, dog lovers, bike riders, walkers or anyone of any age. Be sure to go to Moira Furnace which is just along the road and try Rosliston Forestry centre. Finish off with fish and chips from the Admiral in Overseal ( huge portions!!).

This is a fantastic spot. Staff are lovely. Beautiful grass and we'll maintained site. Good hardstanding with clear numbering. Toilet block is modern and immaculate. Lots to do locally such as conkers, moira furnace and ashby castle. There is a children's play area and lots of friendly dogs on leads. It's a very quiet site which suited me perfectly . There were no loud groups in awnings etc. I will definitely be going back and highly recommend.

User

Nice site, well laid out with friendly and helpful staff. Despite it being extremely wet, the hard standing remains good and the grass looks green and lush. Facilities aren’t the most luxury however they are clean, warm, dry and do exactly what they are supposed to. Despite this being my closest club site, I have never been here before but I will certainly come back!!!

User

Lovely site, great for children, lovely walks. Been many times and will go many more.

User

Lovely open site with great facilities. Friendly helpful staff. Plenty of walking in area.

User

Just had our first outing in the new mo ho (DOTTY) at this site and we found all the facilities were very good and clean with lovely hot showers that were toastie warm all the time. The site crew were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to help you, some very lovely walks and pubs in the area so will definitely be returning at some point for a longer stay happy customers indeed.

User

First outing in the new truck and a great first site! Staff were hugely helpful and had a sense of humour. Ablutions and pan bash were warm and clean no matter what time of day you used them. The site was quiet in the evening despite being busy and having a small play area for kids. There was a chip wagon on site on Saturday evening too.

Well situated for Conkers and a good footpath and cycle routes through the national forest.

All in all a good trip.

User

Brilliant site, clean with all facilities including beautiful walks, staff very friendly and knowledgeable- highly recommend it.

User

Beautiful site set out really well. The staff are really friendly and welcoming we were booked in straight away, we only stopped one night but were pleased with the service. On the way down during a diversion a branch fell on the roof and knocked the toilet roof out and also the Ariel and chimney for the heating fell off. We asked if we could borrow a ladder to fix this and Russell brought one over, he sealed it all up for us and we were extremely pleased thank you to Russell smith for helping out

User

All the staff are very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble. The site was extremely clean especially shower and toilet block. I would deffinately go again and recommend to freinds.

User

Absolutely fantastic site and facilities. I travelled up from The South and spent 5 nights here with my 5 dogs (yes 5!) We couldn't have been made any more welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even when my terrier rolled in something horrid and I needed a hose to wash her down.

Perfect for families and dog owners alike, lots of space between pitches, very well maintained and spotless washing and toilet facilities.

Will definitely recommend to friends and already planning my next trip

User

A fantastic site. Large well spaced out hard standing pitches. Grass well maintained. Toilets and showers modern and extremely clean. This was bank holiday weekend and whilst the site was very busy, there was little noise at night.

Russell, the warden, is absolutely fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. He definite goes over and above to ensure you have a great stay.

You will need a car or bikes to see the sights/attractions in the area. We visited the national Brewery Centre at Burton Upon Trent, Fradley Junction to see the locks and barges, the marina at Barton upon Needwood and the National Memorial Arboretum - memorial for fallen service men and women, well worth a visit!

User

Very good site great staff the only down side are the shower facilities a little dated but adequate

User

Truly well kept site & spotlessly clean. Only one criticism, I thought it was rather expensive for a grass pitch with no electric for one night.

User

The site is fine hard standing is good, I have a major moan, last night I tried to buy a Wifi time, I could only pay on PayPal which I did not wish to do. I do have a PayPal account which I do not use and cannot even remember my login details so I have no wish to open an account so I can pay a large amount to be able to use Wifi as the phone signal is not wonderful that would have been useful to me. The Caravan Club offer a Wifi package but you can use credit or debit card to pay you are not obliged to open a PayPal account please take note. I am a little cross about this as I did a few things I needs Wifi for however I managed to just not do these things too bad for me

User

Nice little site with lots if space. 5 minute walk through the trees to Conkers itself. Lots to do in the area for all ages. Clean and tidy with warm showers.

Could do with a bit more washing up space.

User

Lovely site very clean & safe for the children with a play area. Staff work very hard to run the site & are lovely. The only draw back is aircraft noise from 6am to 11pm as you are in the direct flight path to the nearby airport, this is an issue in a tent when trying to sleep as is very loud, if it wasn't for this the site would be perfect & 5 stars.
