Imported straight form the stud in Ireland this young horse has been lightly handled, but learns very quickly and is proving to have a really loveable temperament.
He is well put together, short coupled with big shoulders and a powerful backend with big, active hocks. He has a very fluid walk and over tracks a considerable amount. His trot is balanced and his forelimb is hugely mobile thanks to his big, sloping shoulders. Toby's canter is very impressive, being incredibly uphill, well balanced and rhythmical. He has a good amount of bone but is light off the ground.
His pedigree is impressive and has all the attributes for the making a of good quality, modern sports horse. His sire is NC Amiro, who's bloodlines go back to the infamous RAMIRO Z. A stallion who has been prolific in modern day breeding. He has numerous offspring that have competed across all levels, throughout the world in both show jumping and eventing. A very influential sports stallion who's relations are extremely well sought-after.
Toby's Dam Sire is Espirit Van De Hoenderehide who is by BALOUBET DU ROUET, by far the most successful son of has famous father GALOUBET A, having been Olympic champion and three-time World Cup winner. He has also long been in the top 10 of the world's best show jumping Sires, as well as being considered one of the best Eventing sires worldwide. Baloubet Du Rouet has countless offspring competing very successfully across all disciplines, another reason why this young horse is an exciting chap!

**NEW STOCK ARRIVING AT CROFT EQUINE SHORTLY**
Finally back out training with Vinney this week.
He's a sensitive soul and has to go right back to basics when he hasn't left home for a while 🤣 Pleased with his work and schooled around some fences before finishing. Having spent the winter with PLENTY of stretchy schooling sessions it looks like his hind leg is really starting to engage and encouraging him to work more uphill...it's a long, slow process with a 17.1hh 5 year old...! He will be out this weekend at his first BS of the year and again next week for more training.
Feeling positive heading into spring with Dot also back in work and Lana due to come home in the next week or two (she currently resembles a woolly mammoth/ hippo!)
With our own horses back on track, we will be expecting delivery of some new additions shortly. Finally through the winter and getting a buzz for the season ahead!

Always be mindful of your horses workload.
The illustration below clearly depicts the stages of development within a horses skeletal structure. Always work methodically, particularly with juvenile's, if your horse doesn't feel ready, he/ she most likely isn't.
Put your horse first and the sport second :)

*IMPORTANT NOTICE*
It is a good idea to try feed you horses off the ground if at all possible, particularly referring to their bulk, fibre portion of their diet, with aim to reduce the use of haynets tied above shoulder height.
Not only does it cause tension in the TMJ, poll, neck and back from constant pulling and grabbing at a haynet tied above shoulder height; but it also affects dental health and can cause excessive wear of incisors as well as imbalances throughout the mo...uth, over time.
A simple change like this to you horses maintenance can make a world of difference to you horses' health and training.
Give it a go! :)
**Obviously there are exceptions to this and it may not always be viable to feed your horse/ pony from the floor. It's just food for thought (pun intended) and something to take into consideration when feeding your horse from nets for hours on end every day and/or night. Please also note this post is not to discourage normal foraging higher up in trees or bushes, merely stating that the MAJORITY of a horses feeding time should be spent from a ground-level position**

Alice was very proffesional and super relaxed around all 3 of my horses making them behave perfect for her. Deffo reccomend her to anyone. 5* service.

Alice is an incredible teacher, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. She explains everything as you go along and is encouraging throughout.

The improvement in both my horse and I in just two lessons is amazing, can't wait for the next! ��

After struggling to get in with my regular dentist. I got in contact with Alice, booked straight in for 4 horses. Alice arrived on time very friendly. Relaxed and kind to the horses I would highly recommend her and I will be using Alice from now on and so will my yard friends. Thank a lot Alice xx
