Just completed the 4 week summer boot camp and with the help and support of the brilliant trainers achieved great results. Going the extra mile. Couldn’t recommend highly enough

User

Great venue, great event (The Takeover) only downside which happens in a lot of large facilities was the acoustics but hey ho...still thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Deans.

User

Joined this gym just over a month ago and iv used it almost every day. The gym is small but has everything u need. Same for the spa. Staff are lovely and the gym is very central to lincoln so perfect for anyone living near town without a car. Got the joint membership with my partner (£25 each) for full access. Brilliant value. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get fit on a budget.

User

I have been to a lot of gyms and this is by far one of the best I’ve been to, it’s a small friendly gym with an excellent spa facility. The main failing is that the pull ups bar and bar are the same thing which causes some seriously annoying problems but everything else is excellent.

User

The fitness facilities look good and the staff seem knowledgeable about it hence not 1 star. If however you visit for the bouldering (climbing) then you're wasting your time. If you're there anyway and want something for your kids to do it may entertain them but for new climbers it may put them off for life and for experienced climbers it will flabbergast them as to the complete lack of thought that's gone into the route setting. The size, shape and greasy-ness of 95% of holds make it far too hard for beginners to do most of the routes, and just uninteresting for experienced climbers. It's a shame as the wall although small is shaped interestingly, it just needs less but better varied holds and someone to put them in who is experienced at route setting, and cooler aircon that can handle chalk or selling liquid chalk wouldn't go amiss. Doesn't sound like any of that will happen any time soon from our interaction with the staff.

I could go on but unless you climb which the staff obviously don't you'll only truly understand if you compare it to the brilliant Showroom climbing centre a mile south of the city centre. I strongly recommend you visit The Showroom instead either to book an adult taster session or kids session or to just have a go in their bouldering room which while short is 100 times better thought through. Unlike Deans bouldering it's set up and run by friendly, helpful people who actually climb!

Many of the facilities have on going maintenance issues. The last 2 times I have visited Deans the pool temperature has been too cold to enjoy. In fact on this occasion no one in the spa was in the pool because of this very reason. Not only was the pool too cold, the sauna was also not at a suitable temperature - I was not the only person to pass comment on this. Further more many of the hydrotherapy jets were still not in working order: jacuzzi, 3/4 of the beds, 2 pool side jets. I have visited the spa on quiet a few occasions and only once has all the facilities been fully functional. On my previous visit all of the above issues were reported to staff (we left early and the person I was with asked for a refund - which they didn't hesitate in doing so and agreed the reason for asking for a refund), these issues still haven't been rectified. As a result I wont be returning until I am assured the facility is fully functional.

User

Why is there no zero stars!! Terrible customer service. Disinterested staff and instructors. Instructor mumbled, yawned and made sarcastic comments through the group induction and only managed to show us how a third of the equipment worked. Information given on sign up was miss leading (even when I asked direct questions on what 'no contract' meant) causing me to be told I owe them money when I told the duty manager I was not given a copy of the terms and conditions she replied "We give them to everyone.... Well it would be your word against ours". Personally I can not stand people with a 'not our problem' approach to conflict resolution.

User

Today my son had his red Berghaus jacket stolen from his locker in the men's changing room - if anyone has any info please contact me.

User

A terrible visit to the spa, the pool temp was so cold it was impossible to use. The water fountain's water was warmer than the pool. Foot spa not working. All these problems have been report by me on at least 3 occasions over the last year. Staff telling me 'it's on the website about the pool' is a dreadful excuse, I don't know anyone who checks a website before going for a relaxing afternoon. I had also rung to check facilities were open, should of been told then. Absolutely rubbish, won't be wasting my money again.
