Founded in 1950 Deramore Masonic Lodge No 742's Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month in Broomhedge Masonic Hall just outside Moira.

Deramore Masonic Lodge No.742 Description

Deramore Masonic Lodge No. 742 was constituted on Wednesday 20th September 1950 at Freemasons Hall, Castle Street, Lisburn by the Provincial Grand Master R. W. Bro Rupert Stanley LLD. and officers of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Antrim.


The first Worshipful Master was W. Bro. Stephen McDowell (Lodge 541, Finiston Belfast), with Senior Warden W. Bro. Robert J. Hughes (Lodge 37, Ballymacarrett) and Junior Warden Bro. Frederick W. Bateman (Lodge 184, Magheralin) and 12 other founder members.


The impressive Seal of the Lodge is the Coat of Arms of the 2nd Baron Deramore, George William Bateson (born 1823), and the warrant dated 1791 was originally held by a Lodge from Doneraile, Co. Cork.


The Brethren met in Broomhedge Masonic Hall from it's inception until January 1979, when it moved to the new Lisburn Masonic Hall, Belsize Road, Lisburn, for a period of some 12 years, returning to Broomhedge in January 1992.
