Alvaston Park Lake Improvements Project
Environmental improvement works are taking place on Alvaston Park Lake starting Monday 10 September 2018 for approximately 4 weeks. The works will include relocating the Norfolk reed to the centre of the lake; increasing the marginal planting around the edge of the lake using rockrolls, preplanted coir rolls, relocating sediment to create a planting base and repairs to the concrete edges. ๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿค—
The aim of the project is to improve wate...r quality and attract wildlife by increasing oxygenating plants and creating new habitats to improve the visual appearance and preserve the structure of the lake.
Access will be restricted to certain parts of the lake while the works are taking place. We apolgoise for any inconvienance this may cause.
The works are funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the OuOur City Our Rivernvironmental enhancement scheme. #gfa18

Went today it gets very busy, there's loads for the kids to do, a paddling pool and loads of other activities for them to do like zorbing, donkey rides, small canoes, crazy golf, and some electric cars for smaller kids and even some high ropes for the older ones all of these you have to pay for but plenty to do. Only downside is you have to pay for parking which is ยฃ4 for over 4 hours stay so make sure you take change, take a picnic plenty of places to sit.

User

Went so many times as a kid, but now living away from the area I don't get to go so much (not been for years)... Was lovely to have some old memories as I took my own children round to show them where I played as a little girl! Will always love it.

The new goApe style course looks awesome... Definately need to come back when it's finished

User

We went with my grandchildren the only fault is the walk to the play area when you are finding difficult walking other than that it is out of this WORLD keep the good work up

User

This park is great my kids love it!! But can anyone help I have lost my glasses there today between 12.30 and 4 I was there sat by the pool and went on the park!! If anyone has found them I would be Sooo great full reward given of found

User

Lovely relaxed atmosphere at the family festivities. Rides were reasonably priced. Jumping clay craft was brilliant and we had a lovely and creamy hot chocolate. Definitely be back soon!

User

It's a shame that the train closed down l thought that the money made from car parking on the park was to be used for the up keep of the park so why was it not used to repair the engine shed roof

User

It's great for kids of all ages, and now it's Been and had a clean up and new things added even better. We can spend all day there , plenty of grass for a picnics and more seating . Its been made a little more safe by the addition of the fenced off rails near the water . The only thing i would say the water in the duck / canoe water needs to be cleaned a little more regular. But other than that good day out for all the family.

User

Cocoa tabby chocolate shop rocks some of the best chocolate I've ever had, get yourself some

User

Lovely day out for a picnic! Around the pool area there could be proper life guards! The Tannoy could be a lot clearer as if your on the banks around the pool. You cannot hear it at all. And to me that's a must as if there was anything to be known, you wouldn't hear it. More speakers around the park i think is a must!

Also when it's a busy day as it was when we were there. There should be a overflow car park. There's enough grass verge to place cars on when there's no more room to park. Would stop cars blocking people in. But in my eyes there just being disrespectful.

And there should be staff on to clear the bins. Regularly. Stop people throwing all the rubbish along side the bins.

Apart that if you have the Sun. It's a lovely day out!!

User

Great day out at markeaton, plenty to do for the whole day and prices are good for the activities and refreshments. only thing keeping it from a 5* is the donkeys looked a bit unloved and it would be good if it had a separate pool for the little ones as there were older kids/grown ups throwing footballs and running around splashing which was too much for young ones/babies

User

A great place to relax or have fun. Lots of things to do. Let down only by the cost of parking, otherwise i would have awarded 5 stars. Lots of improvements being undertaken at the moment too.

User

Excellent park and golf course, brilliant for the kids summer & winter my only beef is with dog owners who don't have there leads on iam not against dogs its just when you have you kids with you they can be abit intimidating so be nice if on leads

User

Rowditch seriously needs some TLC.

Overgrown, broken play equipment etc

User

1st time here with my children

I hope you will consider putting some locking mechanism on the all gates

I was shocked on how many tiny children was walking through these gates without their adult /other adults allowing tiny children through without looking to see who they are with

User

We arrived late afternoon today and needed the toilet. Went into the toilet near the paddling pool and ice never seen anything like it. Absolutely disgusting!! The smell and mess were disgraceful it made me feel sick. When I complained I was told that a boy has gone in to clean them but the public wouldn't let him in!!!! Well maybe it would be an idea to close them off for ten minutes to clean them. Not happy with the mess at all

User

Very disappointed with the toilets absolutely vile they smelled like ass and farm and the floor is so dirty I didn't want to even stand on it with my shoes on and little kids with no shoes on standing in the dirty puddles of black absolutely terrible! I couldn't even go to the toilet it was that bad!

User

The new play area actually gets NO stars from me.(put it wouldn't let me post without pressing a star)

Everyone parent u talk to has lost a child on there as it's so badly planned out, whether it be for 5 mins or 20 mins!!!! NO GOOD what so ever!!!!

User

I hope you never have eventive funtime at markeaton again, my child was bit by there dog. My neice was traumitised after trying to board a ride and the employee of funtime turned on said ride causing her to be trapped getting repeatedly hit by the ride.. the famous Mr Garry Evans who owns said company couldn't understand why the above was such a problem? All in all an absolute sham!

User

During our visit to the fun fair today at Markeaton park my nephew was bitten by a stall holders German Shepherd dog. The stall attendant had encouraged my 3 year old nephew to get closer to the game and ended up being bitten on the ribs/hips. He was understandably upset by it, I tried to explain to the security guards that I did not think it was suitable for a dog like that to be around children when I saw the owner Garry Evans. He asked what I wanted him to do about it! Then he came back and said I hope your happy I've had an altercation with the man whose fault it was. Told the security guard to get us some complementary tickets and walked off!!

We wanted to leave but the children said they wanted another ride and after that experience and knowing my nephew was ok as the dog hadn't pierced the skin we headed over to the minion swing ride. It was at a standstill and a handful of children were on it. We encouraged the children to get on the ride and motioned to the member of staff two so he could come and get the tickets. Instead he started the ride causing our two three year old children to fly around with the ride and end up on the floor. Security were called and we checked the children over. Thankfully it was only cuts and bruises. Garry Evans came once again and said oh it's you again. I said I couldn't believe how irresponsible the attendant had been and that he should be retrained. He asked why I was shouting and I said my child had been hurt and thankfully we managed to grab her before it was alot worse. The place is a joke and I wouldn't go to any of the events ever again even if they paid me. Rude owners, dangerous dogs and inadequately trained staff!
