We can confirm that a Court Order instructing Travellers to move on from an unauthorised encampment at Ashbourne Leisure Centre car park was presented to them before Christmas.
The Travellers were still on site today and, as we as a Council have no powers to forcibly evict, we are engaging Court bailiffs to enforce the Order.

We can recycle your real Christmas tree. Simply place it at the edge of your property on your green/recycling day between 7 January and 1 February. Please cut it down to no longer than 5ft and remove all decorations and any pot. You can also recycle non-glitter Christmas cards and wrapping paper in your blue bin insert or blue bag. TOMORROW (Saturday) | The first change to waste and recycling collections over the festive period happens when Derbyshire Dales bin teams will collect earlier than usual from regular *Tuesday* properties.
Christmas and New Year bank holidays mean bin collections for most residents will be one day later than usual over the festive fortnight.
The only exception is the Tuesday collection scheduled for Christmas Day itself, which will take place three days earlier.
... As Christmas Day falls on a Tuesday this year, it’s business as usual this week and into Christmas Eve, apart from the additional Saturday collection for usual Tuesday households on the 22nd.
The District Council’s contractor Serco will not be working Boxing Day but will collect usual Wednesday waste and recycling on Thursday 27 December, working extra days on Saturdays 22 and 29 December and 5 January.

After sending for a new bin for my sister in law on the 17th Jan i was told it woud be 7 to 10 working days but the said bin still hasn't come. I rang the people back and was told that somebody would ring me back once they had contacted serco. That was nearly aweek ago and my sister in kaw is still waiting for her bin as some numpty bin man has removed the blue recycle bit out of hers

User

very very dissapointed they wouldn,t even send an autistic boy of 7 a few picstures of their bin lorries after he took the time to write to them they just sent his letter back to him & We contacted them they said it,s not a thing they do.

So disappointed re: up keep of grass areas in Ashbourne

I have tried to make light of the situation but I am now very frustrated.

My wife & I both approaching our 80s are sick & tired of cyclists flashing by us on our daily walk along Broad Walk in Hall Leys Park. The first indication of their presence is as they pass us silently from behind at speed with no warning. There was in the past a notice re cycling in the park but obviously the council have bowed to the needs of cyclists & removed them. The majority show no consideration to others whether old or young. Why can walkers in a park not expect to be safe? Occasionally the same applies to mobility scooters due to their silent motors. Both bikes & scooters should have some means of politely warning pedestrians when approaching them from behind like a bell.

The above also applies to the footway on the road bridge over the river where cyclists are frequently seen cycling on the footway past Bridge News. Are they not able to walk 100 metres?

Apologies to those few who are more courteous but it is the bad ones you remember.

User

I visited the Derbyshire Dales today up at Monsal Dale beautiful countryside. But I was disgusted to find the toilets are now closed up there. There is a near by pub and cafe but these are hardly ever open! We need public toilets!

User

I am writing to you today to express my absolute disgust in the filthy toilet facilities on Matlock Park (Matlock Green end). My mother took my daughter to use the toilet yesterday afternoon around 4pm and said the stench of urine was unbearable. The terracotta coloured tiles on the floor were black and sticky too. Both my mother and daughter were retching at the smell and state of the facilities. It's an absolute disgrace in this day and age for toilet facilities that are expected to be used by children to be in such a vile state. Are they ever actually cleaned?

User

I am absolutely disgusted and in shock. As a career for a young child with severe autism I often visit new places, today I visited Bakewell where I was extremely surprised to have received a PCN, this is due to the poorly placed, inadequate and lack of signage that was displayed in the Granby Road pay and display car park. I displayed by blue badge very clearly and proceeded, I did not see the sign that displayed very small writing that payment is still needed even with a blue badge. I have never seen this before and do not have this problem when using car parks in the South Yorkshire Council area. When we first arrived I was shocked by how small the disabled bays were, in fact I struggled to get the child's wheelchair from the car and this resulted in an injury to my back as I was concerned I would hit the car next to me with my door, secondly the bays were not accessible from a foot path and very poorly placed as I had to dodge cars that were driving in and out of the car park, because I was thinking about the safety of the child in my care I did not walk closely enough to the pay and display machine for the sign to be noticeable as I assumed I would not be paying. As the disabled bays were the exact same as a regular bay I do not see the point in having them if you still have to pay, it really is a puzzle to me, it is disgusting and I don't know how you can justify treated people that have disabilities in this way. I will be expecting a reply with a serious apology if not more.

User

Closing the majority of public toilets is unacceptable. Especially those in the children's paddling pool area in Hall Leyes Park. They’ve had to put portaloos next to the existing closed toilets which is insane, and they stink. Are we all supposed to pee in the pool now?

User

Are there any Park Wardens? Despite signs stating all dogs must be on a lead and no dogs within 3m of equipment I witness the rules being frequently broken. At the recent Maazi food festival I witnessed a free roaming dog urinate against a woman while having a picnic with here family. At Dimple park virtually a constant stream of free roaming dogs and urinating against the equipment. Surely with the amount of countryside we have dogs have no business at the parks. Look forward to seeing some action on this or shall the public use facebook to name and shame these people?
