We are offering a choice menu every Saturday night of amazing locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection by our head Chef Ben and his team. Our prices are very reasonable and it is bring your own alcohol so it is a very affordable way to eat out. Went here a little while ago and wow was I impressed! I won’t forget the scrumptious food we got to eat on low’n’slow night. Melted in the mouth and so many interesting delicious flavours. I’ve been telling my friends and family about it and hopefully will be booking again soon with some others to try the great food. The accompaniments were great too, mac ‘n’ cheese, the ceaser salad just to name a couple, complimented the food greatly. Thank you for a lovely evening. Be great to come again.

We went for the Sunday roast. Beef was really good, lovely flavour and very tender, and the gravy was particularly nice. Good amount of veg on the table as well. Well worth a visit.

We visited Dickies today for Sunday dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. We received a warm welcome from the staff despite them being so busy and the atmosphere was really relaxed. The food was fantastic and the portions were extremely generous making it good value for money. The background music was perfect, the log burners etc made it feel cosy and I loved the rustic feel of the place. Again, the staff were really friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back!

WOW! I cannot speak highly enough of this gem of a place.

Everything was absolutely spot on, the service, the set up, the menu and most certainly the food!

The staff were fantastic, we felt like regulars even though it was our first time. They made us feel so at home and also they serve a cracking cup of tea!

Full marks throughout, can’t wait to come again.

The Cow Shed @Dickies is simply one of my favourite places .. the atmosphere is warm and inviting .. the decor is rustic and trendy .. but most of all the food is absolutely amazing .. especially (for me) the tapas dishes on a Saturday afternoon .. sooooo delicious .. bring your own drink and just graze .. what could be better? .. you don't know what you are missing. Spent a fantastic day at Dickies Butchery on their pork butchery and sausage making course.



Many thanks to Richard (Dickie) for a wonderful, fun, educational and very hands on course. Most of my misshapen (sorry, "artisan") sausages have been put in the freezer for another day but one particularly large one has been left to try this evening - once my appetite returns after the marvellous breakfast first thing and half-time coffee with "oh go on then, I'll have a bacon bap too".

Snoot to foot pork tasting evening - great night! Food was fantastic, prompt, hot, well cooked and lots of it. Informative explanation by the chef and Dickie. Also had plenty of brunches here since its infancy and it's getting better and better, never had cause to grumble. Lovely venue and great atmosphere and a fab friendly team, thanks to you all.

Mother’s Day Sunday roast... always a risk we’ve found on previous years even at well established restaurants. This year booking Dickies was the best thing ever. Every course was truly exceptional, and the staff were so helpful and friendly, and hugely accommodating and kind to my disabled Dad. If you like good food, there is nowhere better in the Vale at the moment.

Just been for the seasonal set menu evening. The food was awesome, all locally sourced and was great when the chefs came out to explain each dish, really made it special. Easily up there with the best restaurants in the Nottingham area and a great place to chill on a warm summer night! Definitely will be gong back to Dickies to try some more of their evening events.

Just been for a Sunday roast after a friends recommendation. We absolutely loved it and will be looking to return with a group on one of their themed evenings. Probably the best Sunday roast I have ever had. Staff are really friendly and the owner extremely easy to speak to, I love the whole concept, my only concern is that with in the next couple of Months we may struggle to get booked in!

If I could give more stars then I would. Super venue and incredible food. Our plates were piled high last night and there was still plenty left to take home ! Great chefs and front of house too ! Very welcoming. Look forward to coming back �

Great lunch today at Dickies. My husband had a steak sandwich and said it was the best first bite of a sandwich he'd ever had! It's a really unique set up, quirky ideas. Really worth a visit!

First visit to @dickiesbutchers today for tapas menu with friends. Took our own wine and the menu was fantastic, really inspired and super-tasty. An amazing atmosphere, great environment and helpful and friendly service. If you haven't visited the 'Privy' you're missing out .... we will be back.

First timers last night and loved it. Liked the casual feel and superb food. Good service and a treat to eat outside in the evening as the weather was beautiful. Will definitely be making this a regular haunt.

First encountered Dickies as myself and an acoustic guitarist are the live musical entertainment. Dickie and the team have been really accommodating, and from our first visit I've been eager to return as a customer. The team are all so welcoming and friendly and accommodating to everyone in the restaurant. The food is some of the best meat I have ever tasted at a restaurant, superb quality. Looking forward to returning for more live music and eagerly awaiting a date that we can return for some good food for the evening!

Eaten there once, Easter roast was great, ordered meat a few times now and the latest was some minced shin of beef, turned up late Friday and they had to reassemble the mincer and find the shin, none of it seemed to be too much trouble. And it cooked out beautifully, very little came off whilst frying, stewed for 4hrs rs at 150c, and it melted, well worth it.

Can’t rate them high enough. Food is amazing and the atmosphere is incredible.

The staff are always friendly and really go above and beyond. A big thank you to Rich, who helped me out with a little incident the other week, whilst visiting.

We are regulars and shall continue to be!

Lovely idea and beautifully done however would really benefit from someone front of house with hospitality experience. Relying on school kids/students with no real training is the only thing that needs tweeking. Not their fault but have been twice now and you need someone to meet, greet and keep customers in the loop. Waited 45 mins on low and slow night between sitting down and being served. No member of staff spoke to us during that time to advise what was going on or explain delay. The food was lovely and at the end the chef did come and have a chat which was nice. We will definitely keep going as the concept is unique in these parts and doesnt need much doing to get it to where it should be.
